I just checked the settings here and found that I had checked the wrong button, at some point, and comments were not being allowed. I have corrected that problem. Feel free to comment. That explains why no one was commenting here.

Tomorrow I will get my $175.00 retirement check. I will pay the $75.00 for the Sprint cell phone service and have a few dollars left.

I am going to delete the House Album and take new photos for a new album. Since we are living here I think it is time for new photos of the house. I also plan soon to start on a album of photos of Hillsboro.

I sure do love BookTV on CSpan on weekends. Last night they had Simon Winchester and he told about his book: The Meaning of Everything-The Story of the Oxford English Dictionary. He gave a great talk. It was funny and interesting. I never buy the books. I guess if I had the money I would buy the books.

Nikon Coolpix 5700

Jimmy I went to a movie rental place. They have one in Hillsboro. Jimmy picked up a couple of videos and an application for work.
Then we went to check out Hill College. It is very close. We can see it from were we live.

Jimmy says he is going to order a Nikon Coolpix 5700 5 Megapixel 8x Optical/4x Digital Zoom Digital Camera. When he gets it then we will go out to the lake.

Lake Whitney

Jimmy got an income tax refund today. He was so happy. He was not expecting to get the refund. He had filed late. The check is for over $800.00 and he is very happy. He was broke and so far has not heard about the jobs he put in applications for... It maybe hard to find a job in Hillsboro of any sort...
Darlene has been burning up the phone line ... talking on a singles phone line..She has talked about how she had no friends and no one to talk too.. Well ..now she has someone to talk too.. She is pretty tight when it comes to spending money.. but she got a new phone last week and NOW ..she is having a second phone line installed. Too bad she did not get that done back a few weeks ago when she moved in here.. Now she will have to pay for another install. I THINK however..that an additional phone line may only cost her $10.00 a month.
I was telling Russell about the high speed wireless Internet service. He said the business plan would be great..it would be two times what we had with DSL. It would not be as fast as the cable modem service we had...
I told Jimmy about the wireless Internet service..He did not seem all that interested.
I was talking to Jimmy about Lake Whitney and how I wanted to go see the lake.. He said he would take me sometime next week. So I guess we will go on Monday or Tuesday.. I will take my camera and post some photos here on the web site.

I want to get that high speed wireless Internet access but I just can't afford it.
I wonder if I could get a phone line installed in my room for $10.00 a month. I hate dial up services however..AND I would then have to pay an Internet service provider.. No.. I will stay with what I got until I can go with the wireless service.

Water Tower + Antenna

This is the water tower that has the antenna on it. We could not be in a better location. It is line of sight and we are not too close.
Read the last posting if you wonder why I am showing you the Hillsboro water tower.

Streaming Video Again?

I have good news and bad news. I have found a way to get high speed Internet access here in Hillsboro Texas. That is the good news.
It is wireless (not satellite dish) and you have to be with in range of the antenna. I have more good news and that is that I can see the antenna from the house. It is located on the water tower.
You get one Static IP address. That would work out good for streaming video. I could even setup the TrackerCAM.

Now the bad news.. Well the bad news is that we are committed to the DirecWAY for 15 months. For the next 15 months we have to pay them the $99.00 a month for the service.

The new Wireless Internet Service
Has two types of service - Residential Class and Business Class
The Residential Class is 1.5 Mbps Downstream and 192 Kbps UpStream
The Business is 2.0 Mbps and 256 Kbps UpStream

The Residential Class is $49.95 a month and the Business Class is $99.95 a month. You would have to add $10.00 additional per month for lease of the antenna unles you wan to pay $500.00 to purchase the antenna.
There is an setup fee of $99.00 to setup the service.
You have to agree to take the service for one year.

Now the question is... am I going to be here for one year?
Also, right now, I can not afford to pay $99.00 for install and I can not afford to pay the $59.95 (49.95 plus $10 for antenna) each month.

I am paying now $700.00 a month to help Darlene and Russell with this house and $100.00 of that money is for the DirecWAY service now.

If I did get the new service I could stream video again. I have 12 people watching me on my webcam right now.. If I could get ten people to sign up to pay $5.00 each month that would take care of the cost of the service, well almost, and I could afford to have it installed.
Not only could I send streaming video but EchoLink would work and I could get into my chat room and AOL IM and other IM programs would work correct.
If I did get x number of people to sign up for streaming video ... If I decided to use TrackerCAM... I could fix it so they were the only ones that could control the camera.
Or maybe the most fair way to do it would be... only those that pay get to see the streaming video and all others see, what I am doing now, the CameraWare video feed.
I am not sure.
I miss the streaming video.

Influenza (flu) This Year

I hear that the flu (influenza) is bad this year. The CDC has a good site about it, flu in the United States.

I did not get the flu shot this year. I can not remember the last time I did get the shot. I also have not had the flu for many many years. I have the feeling I should not have said that.. sort of bad luck..
I did not even get a cold or flu when I was working at Research Belton Hospital. I worked there for 11 years and it was a small hospital. I helped out in the ER when they were busy. It was not my job but... I did..made carts and did other things to help out the ER doctor and staff.
I do believe in hand washing. I think that is the number one thing ...well the number one thing ...is stay away from people that have it..but washing hands is very important to keep you from getting the flu.

A great web site that I like is FluWatch.Com. I found it last year because Texas was number one if flu cases. Well looks like this year ..if Texas is not number one it in the top three. I am not sure why.

I see there is no activity in Missouri. That is my old home state and I guess that is were I should be...

I have a real fear of the flu. What I fear is vomiting. I don't like to vomit. I think the last time I did was back in the 70s.
If I get sick or feel like I am going to vomit...You will see me, on the webcam, wide awake... laying on the bed on my back ..in a cold sweat and praying .. please don't let me vomit.

I have never done it much..but the last couple times.. I did.. I attempted to keep from vomiting..and so..of course.. I choked on it..and could not get air..and..well it was scary..
Now you know one of my deep down fears. Maybe the only one. Other things I do not pay attention too. But the feeling that I am going to vomit... Not a feeling..that I want.. I hope the flu will skip me again this year.

Missing Channels

I moved things around in my room. I think it looks better now. I like the bed next to the wall because the mattrest slides around.
Well when I moved things.. I disconnected the DirecTV receiver. When I pluged it back into the power I had a problem. I am not getting channels 4 to 99. I checked everything. I disconnected from power again.. I when thru the setup menu and nothing works. It is a bitch. I missed a bunch of the TV shows I like to watch. The other two receivers in the other room are OK of course.
I will have to call Pegas for help, not DirecTV. When the two install guys.. set things up..they had a hell of a time getting those channels on this receiver for some reason. I wish I had made a point to find out.. what the fix was for the problem. I do enjoy my TV.

I had not seen Darlene for about two days.. I been staying in my room. She fixed turkey and mashed potatos and Jimmy called me. So Darlene, Jimmy and I ate. Russ can't crew anything.. So I forget what he had. The turkey was excellent. The potatos were not all that great. Then I went back to my room.

I guess I will worry about getting the channels on the TV set tomorrow.

Social Security Increase

The SS money went into the account. I paid for TypePad for a year now. I paid Hosting Matters for the month (23.00 each month).
Jimmy and I went to the Bar-B-Q place. Then we went to Wal-Mart. I got a map for Lake Whitney and Lake Aquilla. I want to check out the lake. Jimmy is not interested in checking out the lake. Not sure how I will get to the lake. I don't have a car. If I had a bike I could get to Lake Whitney on a bike. Maybe I will make it someday.

I got a letter from Social Security Administration. From now on my SS amount will be $941.00 each month. They adjusted it to give me credit for additional earnings that I had.
I am not sure if there is an upcoming cost of living adjustment or not.

The Cost-of- Living Adjustment will begin in January 2004, for people who get Social Security benefits, and on December 31, 2003 for people who receive SSI benefits.)
