I did a new logo or masthead for this blog. If anyone wants to create one for me.. Please do so.. I should be good at that sort of thing...but I am not.. I more a word person.

Working on ShowMeBlog

I am working to correct the problem I had with ShowMeBlog. I have not received any comments about using AnyWebCam for video. If I don't hear anything... I am going to think you approve of the change.

Crash Crash..

I am not sure what happened but I lost the templet that I had worked on for ShowMeBlog. I will have to start to rebuild it. I think I can get all the data back. None of the blog text has been lost. It is the colors, layout and items on the side (links). I will attempt to re-build everything.
This would be a good time for you to give you feed back on colors and things. I think many of you know... that I have no idea about colors or what looks good or matches.. I am a mess in that area. Any ideas are welcome. Don't waste any time.. I am working on things now.

Miccosukee Casino

I would like to go check out the Miccosukee casino sometime when they are not busy. I still hope there might be a jackpot waiting for me.
I have not been to the beach since my sun burn over two weeks ago. I still want to get out and check Haulover Beach. Sometime Ken and I have to go down and check out Key West.
Tomorrow I should get my $175.00 retirement check from Research Medical Center. I am going to pay the cable TV and cable modem bill from it. I can pay part of my cell phone bill. I hope next month, at this time, I will have a pay check each two weeks.
I hated to turn down Burton today when they called for an interview. My idea in the past is that you check them out and see what happens. Burton had work at Key Biscayne and Brickel area. I know how to get to both of those locations. Well I can always call back for an interview if I do not hear from the mall.

Job Interview

I had the job interview. It looks like I am going to get the job. The starting pay is $8.50 an hour.

I was interviewed by the director of security. There are four steps to getting hired. The first it the application. Then the interview. Then he had me do a 20 minute deal on the telephone. You answer questions about stealing money. drugs and stuff like that.. Sort of dumb... I can not believe that that process would screen anyone out.
I filled out the paper work for the credit check and police check. That is the last of the four parts to get hired. I guess if I pass that part of it.. I will be called and told that I have the job.
I still have to get my class d security commission. I will have to get that on my own and pay for it. To get the training is going to cost about 60.00 and then I will need to send in about 70.00 with the paper work to the state.

But it looks like I will be working soon.

If your someone that watching the video here..you will see that I am using AnyWebCam. The video is going out on HNB After Hours, Howard's Notebook and CQ CQ de N0UWY.
Let me know how you like that video. If I am going to keep using it.. I need to come up with $85.00 for a six month membership. With the membership I can password protect it and I can do other things.
Let me know how you like it. I can not run CameraWare anymore unless I come up with a membership fee for it. I need to run it in "slide show" mode and you have to have a membership.

Interview

I got a call for an job interview. The mall that is across the street called and I am going to do an interview at 10 am tomorrow. Wish me luck. I do not have the class D license but maybe they will hire me and tell me I can start when I do get the license. Or maybe they are just doing interviews.
I do like working close to home. If the other three places call for an interview I am going to set it up after the one tomorrow.

I hate job hunting. I do pretty well at interviews. If I were applying for some type of job that I did not know about or for some high paying job or something... But.. when it comes to security I have done everything and seen everything..
The problem is going to be if they say.. OK we want you to run over here to such and such a place and get a drug screen or something.. I have not idea of this town and no transporation... I would have to try and find away to get there and back by bus. So I hope that does not pop up. Oh well..

Well we paid the rent for next month (April) and that took $900.00 of my $962.00 SS money. I get another retirement check on the 1st and it will go for the TV and cable modem service and I will have some money left over that I can pay on my cell phone bill. I can not pay it all..but they will be OK with me paying half of it...I suspect..

If the mall offers to pay for my class d commission that would be good. I hope they pay up front and not have me pay it and then refund it on a check. I am short of money now.

For me ...the best thing might be if I got hired in to work midnight shift. I am sure they have someone on duty all night. That is a shift most people do not want...It would work out well with my hearing problem.. I can hear glass break and yells and stuff..but I have a problem...in side a mall with a lot of sounds at the same time. So I am going to hope that I can get hired in on midnight shift.
Since they are doing interviews.. I suspect they may have an open slot or two. Cross your fingers.
I can get work...but close is nice.

Excellent Symantec Info

As you know, if you been reading my blog, I keep track of what people come here looking for..I check and see what they entered into Google search or one of the other services. Do not worry..I do not know who you are or where you are..I can just see what people entered when they did a search.
I get a number of hits each day from people looking for information on the Doom virus and others. I want to be as much help as I can ..when people come to this site I want them to find what they are looking for and I hope they will look around here and book mark us and come back.

On my ham radio web site: CQ CQ de N0UWY I have links and information that will help those of you looking for virus information. It is on the left size down towards the bottom and says Current Virus Information.

Maybe two or three times a week someone will come looking for information on "odontogenic keratocyst" and I suspect this is about the only place they can even find the subject.
Correction I just did a search, using Google, and found a number of links. We were number ten on the list. I am sure we are not much help. But if are like us and found that a family member had it..I suspect you will be happy to know that someone is being treated for it and getting better.
If there is someone out there, maybe in the medical field, that wants to research the subject and type up a article on the subject and post it as news on Howard's Notebook that would be great. It does not have to be a book on the subject. Just some information and links were to get more information. If you don't want to post it as news on my site, because you don't know how or something, you can eMail it to me. I think that would be a great help to people. I know when we looked we could not find much information and it was all very medical. We need something simple.

I have been working for hours on my web site. I am making changes and I hope making improvements.

Online employment applications

I went online and filled out three online applications for employment. I filled out an on line application for 50 State Security, Wackenhut Security and Barton Security.
I saw two of the 50 State Security partro cars the other day. I guess they have 900 employees in this area and 26 patrol cars. I think Barton Security said they have 600 people working in this area. I am not sure how many Wackenhut has working in this area. I know they have one at the bank a couple blocks from here. They also have the contract for the metro rail bus system.

Employment Application

God I hate filling out an employment application. I just filled out one and I used Max, Milford, Dick and Troy as references. I expect you guys to lie. Smile.
I got to copy this information out by hand so that I have it. I need a copy machine. I don't want to have to look it up again.
Well as much as I hate filling out an application..there is something I hate more and that is going in for an interview.
I guess I better copy this information and take a shower and shave and go over and drop off the application. I will have to ware something to cover my arms. They are not going to hire someone with arms peeling like my arms are doing.. I need someone walking in front of me ringing a bell or something and warning people.

Late tonight or tomorrow I can apply online at a few places. I need a printer so I can print out these lies about myself and a letter telling what I am looking for and sent it out.
Right now.. a nice gated community would be just right for me.

Still Peeling and Fighting Ants

You have heard of ants in the pants? When I was going out last night I put my hand in my back pocket to take out a paper (directions to license place) and the paper was filled with ants. I am glad I did not stick that paper in my shorts. I am not sure what it was about the paper.
I have been using Protexall "Ant-Kill" and they have been feeding on it and walking into it. You would think that at some point it will kill them. I think they say what does not kill you makes you stronger or something like that.. Maybe they like the stuff. You think they are back at the nest sending out the word to all their friends that Jim Howard is feeding us this great stuff and lets all go and make a home in his pants?

Information on Killing Ants

Ken did 3 loads of wash and I did one load.

I am still peeling. Yes.. believe it or not..

I do not have that application filled out yet. I guess I will have to get it done tomorrow and get it over to the place. I am not sure they are looking for anyone and I also suspect they don't hire old men. Everyone I have seen has been young.
But there are lot of jobs out there. I will get something.
