I just got the email below from the US Chamber of Commerce. They are for Bush and have given all the money and support that they can too four more years of Bush. They are not allowed by law to given any more..so they use this back door way of supporting Bush. They are not allowed to say vote for Bush..but you get the idea.
We know that anything that the US Chamber of Commerce is for is not good for the little guy. You know they are out to help big business and do not care what effect is has on you and me.
Now, of course, the information in the eMail below is crap and you can not believe one word that the chamber says or "fact" that they give you.
However.. I favor some changes in the laws.
My position however is that health care corporations, insurance corporations and all the others should first work to fix things.
How about this a tax on health care of some sort? Say a 1% tax that goes into a special fund to take care of the errors and crimes committed in the name of health care. The fund would be used to fix and correct errors and crimes that hurt the little guy.
You see the doctor that cuts out the wrong eye or cuts off the wrong leg wants protection. The lab or hospital that does not do the test or has major errors they want protection.
Let all those "health care professional" come up with a plan...let them do a total change of their system and then come to us for a change in laws. Let them clean up their house first.
Did you know that Florida is considered a "State in Crisis" by the American Medical Association? Doctors are fleeing, hospitals are closing, and healthcare costs are rising at an alarming rate. Why?
Because our nation's medical liability system is broken. To get all the facts, go to
href="http://www.ProtectPatientsFirst.com."
target=_blank>http://www.ProtectPatientsFirst.com. Skyrocketing medical liability premiums -- $200,000 a year or more in some high-risk specialties - are forcing physicians to limit services, retire early, or move to a state where premiums are more stable. The crisis is threatening access to care for patients in Florida.
According to a February 2003 poll, 86% of Florida voters support said they support medical lawsuit abuse reform, including a $250,000 limit on non-economic damages.
So why does Senator John Edwards keep standing in the way of such meaningful reform? Senator Edwards has voted AGAINST medical liability four times and was recently quoted as saying, "medical malpractice reform will pass over my dead body."
You deserve your choice of doctor. You deserve your choice of hospital. You deserve access to emergency trauma centers. But thanks to the current legal liability system, you may end up with no choice. And in some communities, there may be no doctors, no trauma centers, and no hospitals.
Tell Senator Edwards that it is time to support common sense lawsuit abuse reform. Tell him Florida deserves better.
Sincerely,
The United States Chamber of Commerce
