Ken's Graduation II

  I spend a lot of time talking about nothing here...but you may have noticed that I did not say much about Ken's graduation.  Ken did not want me to give too many details so that it would not end up being indexed and all over Google.
  I don't think Ken wants any of his friends to find my site.  Smile. 
 
  But.. Ken got "highest honors" with the AS degree.

Ken's Graduation

  Russell and I went to Ken's graduation today.  It was in Homestead FL.  Ken got his Associate in Science (Aviation) degree.

Showing the Apartment

  A real estate appraiser came to inspect the apartment today.  We got a notice that tomorrow they are going to show the apartment tomorrow.
  It looks like we maybe out of here very soon.  The place is a mess.  I am not sure when they put the notice on the door.  We did not get it until almost 10 pm tonight.

  It would be nice if we could stay here until about December but I do not think we are going to make it.

First Blog NO Way

  Well I did a search on the History of the Blog. 
Dave Winer wrote The History of Weblogs in 2001 and he says that the first blog was "...The first weblog was the first website, http://info.cern.ch/, the site built by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN. From this page TBL pointed to all the new sites as they came online. Luckily, the content of this site has been archived at the World Wide Web Consortium. (Thanks to Karl Dubost for the link.)..."

  Now if you say that a "blog" has to have been on the web.  Then the first blog would have had to be in about 1992.  But I think being on line should be all that is needed. Remember back in 1982 people used their modem and called into Howard's Notebook and my modem picked up the connection and then they moved around my system and I had a "blog", not called that of course, on line for them to read.  Remember Ric Manning wrote about my site and commented on my blog in "Link-Up" magazine in 1984.

  Now there is a site called "Blogumentary" and they talk about the history of blogs. I have not had time to read it all ...but they seem to say.. that the blog started sort of with LiveJournal (1999) but that the blog in fact goes back into history and that it is just a diary.

 

ShowMeCAM

  Starting last night, I think, I started streaming the video for ShowMeCAM.  I was thinking that a bunch of people would be happy.  I heard from Milford and he can not find or see the video.  Very few others have been seeing the video.
  I am not sure if they can not find the URL or if there is some tech problem.  Remember always come to ShowMeBlog and then click on ShowMeCAM.  If you bookmark the link of ShowMeCAM you will find that it will not work.  I change the video sometimes x number of times each day!

  Since no one is watching the video... I will make a change tonight.  I am not sure which program I will use for video.  But the current link to the video will always be 100% up to date and current right here at ShowMeBlog.
 

Empire: Earth II

  I got Empire Earth II, a game,  today when I got off work.  It cost me $42.00 and I did not even look up what the employee discount would be on the item.  Now I find it has a problem with my computer.  I will have to play it some other time when I get an a new computer.
 
  I had to put the price out today on a lap top computer.  I forget the make.  I think it was the HP Pavilion zv5450us.  What a great looking computer.  The price was $1600.00 for it.  I did not look up the employee discount.  My guess is that I would get about $200.00 off the computer.  But I would want to take out the extra protection plan and I expect it would cost about $200 for it.

  Ken was checking a printed guide for apartments last night.  He said that he does not think we can pay less than $900.00 for an apartment unless we want to live in Homestead.
  I do not want to live in Homestead.  Ken does not know this yet but today an inspector came out an did an inspection of this apartment.  I suspect that the apartment has been sold.  He was wanting to live here until he gets hired by the FAA or until he is too old be hired and then we would make plans.  That would be about December of this year. 

  I want to live in Fort Lauderdale.  Oh this weekend they got a free air show in Fort Lauderdale. I have never been to an air show.  They used have one each year in Belton MO but I always was working.  I would be at work and some of the aircraft would fly over Research Belton Hospital.
  The U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds will be at this air show.  I wil try and listen to the air show on my scanner. 

  I was talking to a young guy at work today.  He is the software sales guy.  I asked him what he was going to school to study and he said English.  He said he wanted to be a teacher and a writer.  I asked him if he had a blog and he said no.  I told him that he should have a blog.  He said he knew that he should have one.  Then I told him that I invented the blog.  He looked at me a bit funny.  I waited to see if he could call 911 or if men in white coats would show up and take me away.  But none came and I made it home OK.  Smile

  It looks like the BBS: A Documentary will be sent out very soon.  I ordered a copy and I see he is sending a free copy to all those that he did an interview with ...so I am going to get an extra copy.
  I will have to decide what to do with the DVD.  I may just send it to LaDawna and Aaron.  (They went to the pre-showing of the movie with me.)  I should start having a contest here each month and give a small gift to the winner each month.  The DVD set could be the prize for one month.
  The guy that did this documentary did a real service for us old BBS people.  Not just the SysOp people but you that were part of this history.  It was a labor of love with him.  It cost me a lot of money.  I do not think he can ever make back that money.  If you want to help him out order a set of the DVDs.  Order a set for yourself or for a library.  I have met the guy two times. I can tell a nice guy and he is one of those super nice guys.

   

Biscayne Beach

  Ken took me to pay the power bill and then we went to Biscayne Beach.  We were there for about two hours.  Ken got some sun burn.  I may have got a little but I don't think very much.
  What a great beach and very few people are at the beach. 

   

The Private Diary is Gone

I have done away with my private diary.  It did not get much traffic.  I just did not feel like doing much with an area that got so few people visiting it.
  There are a few times that I would like to comment on something and I am not sure how I will do that now.. It is not sex stuff but family stuff and work stuff.  There are times when your pissed off at your family or friends and you may want to say something and not have them read it.  There are times that something happens at work that you don't want to broadcast to the world.  So I am not sure how I will deal with those sort of issues.
  Such as... a guy at work was fired today.  He came into work last night and was off duty and should not have been at work.. and he started burning movies to CDs or DVDs using the work computers.  The boss fired him today.

  I forgot to mention the other day..that a collection agency called me about Jimmy's school loan.  A loan I took out for him.  The feds been taking my income tax refunds for years to pay on the school loan.  Now they take $150.00 out of my SS each month to pay on the loan.  For years I have had, from time to time, a collection agency call me. 
  Well one called again.. attempting to pretend that they are they are not a collection agency.  They want to work out a "deal" for me and make it "easy" for me to pay the loan.  They said they could even make the amount I pay each month less.  I told them I did not want to deal with a collection agency and I did not want to do the loan over again and end paying more over time.  I told them that I was happy to have it being paid this way.. The woman.. would not take no for an answer.  She said she was going to keep calling me.  I told her that she had better not call again.  I hung up on her. If they keep calling I will see how they like it when I setup a web site about them.  My hope is that they just give up on me.  But I think they are going to be ass holes about it.  You would think that since they school loan people are getting their money that they would call off the attack dogs.

  I have a ham radio blog.  I would like to fold it over into this one and have one place to post all the information.. but I know that very few of you are interested in ham radio.  I will think about it.

  I just need a GPS unit now and I will be all set.  I have the ham radio that does APRS.  I need a GPS unit and a cable.

  I work each weekday from 6 am to 11 am.  (That is EDT -5 GMT.)  Tomorrow I may get off work and walk over to the place were I can pay the power bill.  It is about a 45 minute walk one way.  I may not get home until 2 pm.  I mention that for those of you that plan to check out ShowMeCAM.

  I better shave, take a shower and get ready for bed.  I hope to be in bed at midnight.  Then I will have to get up at 5 am and be at work at 6 am.  Just for your information.. when I go to bed at midnight I wake up not less than two times between midnight and 5 am to go to the bath room.
  I will go to the bath room about 4 times during the time that I am up and before I go to work.  Yes.. between 5 am and 5:40 I will go to the bath room about 4 times.  Old age is just wonderful.  Smile

   

 

   

SS - School Loan - Radio Shack

I got my SS money today.  I paid my SprintPCS bill.  The entire bill is paid now.  I need to get over and pay the electric bill.  It is a long walk.  Maybe I can get Ken to take the money and pay the bill.
  Ken will have his two year degree on Saturday.  I will try and take photos and post them here.
  Then Ken will wait for the call from the FAA.  A clock is ticking however.. Ken is almost 30 years of age.  He has to be hired before he is 30 years of age.  The training for the FAA ATC jobs is in Oklahoma.  Ken is saying that we could all three live in an apartment there for the three months.  I do not think I want to spend three months in Oklahoma.  Smile
  If Ken does not get hired by the FAA he is thinking about going to a school in Fort Lauderdale FL.  It is six weeks and is for air line dispatchers.  Russell is interested in going to that school.  It cost a LOT of money.

 

Is Bush Gay?

  I do not watch much TV news.  I used to watch a great deal of the news.  But I can not stand to see and hear Bush.  He makes me sick.  It is rare for me to watch news and I try and not see or hear Bush.
  I just happened to have CNN on when I saw Bush greet and kiss his visitor.  He then took his hand and they walked all the way into the Bush house, in Texas, and I hope they did not head to the bedroom.
