Yahoo News has a news article on getting Internet service over power lines. The article is called Waiting for Electrifying Internet Access.
The same electrical power lines that we all use for power can be used to bring us broadband Internet. The article is correct that the Federal Communications Commission is out front pushing for BPL. The Bush FCC wants to make money for the electric utility companies.
The head of the FCC, a Bush person, has not been open or willing to listen to those that point out problems and dangers of the BPL. Amateur radio operators, in this country and around the world, point out that BPL creates powerful electrical interference. The interference does not just effect ham radio operators but it also effects with police, fire and ems radios. This interference would also effect home land security communications.
We all want broad band Internet. We all want it low cost and we want to have a choice. We want fast broadband.
The GOP and the $Bush$ people only care about money for big Wall Street. They do not care if there is oil spilled on the beach or if they dig in your back yard for oil. They do not care about protecting national parks or trees. They do not care about green house effects or warming of the earth.
Believe me they do not care if there is radio or television interference. It will just be more money in their pocket. They will find a way to make profit off of the problem. A new device or new service or something to screw the little guy.
Do not be a fan of BPL until your 100% sure that it is not going interference. Now you may live out in the "sticks" some where and you can not get cable Internet service or DSL and BPL may sound good to you. But remember if your out in the country communications is even more important to you.
Just remember those power lines that carry power to you are also large antennas.
