People are stealing laptops computers left and right. At work people are walking in and walking out with laptops. All laptops are locked up and it takes a manager to get one out for the customer to hold. Yes there are laptops on display but they are bolted down and hooked up to an alarm.
I hear that someone stole one Sunday. He looked at one and said he would buy it and then walked around to buy a few other items and walked out the door with it.
Also two people had their cars broken into in the parking lot and laptops stolen. Also two people got laptops at the store and someone followed them home and took their laptop when they got to their house before they got it into the house.
As you know people are stealing laptops at airports. Think of all the armed security they have right there and someone will steal it right there.
So take this as a warning. Protect your laptop. Do not let anyone know you have a laptop if you can..
If you buy a laptop at a store don't put it in your car and "lock it up" and then go into some other store or something. Make sure no one follows you home. Look around. Look around.. pay attention to things around you.
Also you should have CompuTrace installed on your laptop. If you buy your laptop at CompUSA they will check your laptop for you and install the Windows updates for you. I think the cost is about $20.00 and I think CompuTrace is about $50.00 to buy it. So tell them you want the $20.00 check and update and that you want them to install at that time CompuTrace.
Well today at work the computer I use is now setup at customer service desk. I think it will work out OK. Only problem is that the woman that work there seem to like to use that computer. I am not sure ...since it is an extra computer and they never had it before.. They have their own computers and a number of them.
But it will work out OK. I was busy today. There were lots of signs for me to make. I make some progress. If they have not messed things up tonight then I should get a handle on it tomorrow.
I told them that Russell was now 17 years of age. I asked them to pull his job application out and give him an interview. They said they would pull his application. I am not sure if they will or not. They must have hired about 20 or more people since he filled out an application. They never called him for an interview.
I told Russell he needs to get a job this month. If he can't get a job then he needs to volunteer to work someplace like the Miami Museum of Science. It is he next stop on the rail from here. It is not very far.
It is not good for him to spend all day at home and on the computer. He has his GED now. He needs to get out and start meeting people and learning about life. I don't care if he goes to school or works. But for his good he needs to start to live a life. I do not think that Ken thinks he should volunteer. It would be better for him to have a job. He would feel better about him self. He would start to build a work history. But if he can't find a job then volunteering would be good for him.
I started out in life volunteering. I have done it all my life. I was in Civil Defense, for years, when I was in high school. I was in the Ground Observer Corp for years. I was one of the founders of the People-to-People organization.
All my life I have been volunteering. I was a volunteer fire fighter back in 1977. I remember it was when Roots was first on TV. It was on TV for six nights. Well on the last night of the show the tone went off for a fire. I responded and the fire chief responded. We were the only two. Everyone else was watching Roots. Well I had been watching but I left the show to go to the fire.
