I just talk a little about having health insurance now and make mention of Bush and the ports deal. If you don't have broad band access I would not view it.

At about 0430 hours we lost power for 30 minutes. The power came back on and off a couple of times. There was not storm or anything going on around here. There is a large building project a few blocks away. It is the building of a very large and very high class condo. They have just started working all night long. I think that is the reason we lost power. I think they hit a power line or something.
But that just reminds me and brings it too my attention that I want to be ready for the storm season this year.
This year:

I was wrong. President Bush could get lower ratings. A new CBS poll out shows that he is down 8 more points. The deal to allow a Dubai-based firm to run six U. S. ports maybe the reason.
President Bush now has a rating of 34 percent. The Iraq war I am sure is part of it. But I think the major reason is his stand on the ports deal. Plus as I type this there are reports just starting to come out that the United States Coast Guard had objects and warnings about the port deal back in December. There maybe more reports like this that will now come out.
Now hard core right wing blogs are saying that the CBS poll is wrong. There will be more polls out soon and we can see what those polls report.
It would seem to me that anyone can see that President Bush has something wrong with his head. This whole port deal was a no win for him from day one. Everyone can see it. I just do not understand how he could support it. Hell not only does he support it.. He seems to get a "hard on" just thinking about it. It appears that Dubai gave Bush, at least, one million for his Bush Library Foundation. I do not think it is just that one donation. Something odd is going on in the head of Bush.

Dennis Weaver, the Deputy Chester, in "Gunsmoke", has died at age 81.
I got my one year review at work. I was very busy and just signed it. I got a "4" and I think "5" is the top and 1 is the bottom. I don't know how much of a pay increase I will get. I will find out tomorrow.
We have not got our Nanos yet. They say we will get them sometime this week. Each employee gets a Nano because we did so well during the Xmas season.
Russell went over and filled out an application to see if he can get hired by CompUSA. He is not back yet. That is a good sign.
Ken last part of Ken's boat just came. He will want to be out on the water today with his new boat.
This is a later post ... Russell did fill out an application and they did the first interview with him and they are going to call him when the supervisor of the department is at work.
It sounds like Russell will get the job.

Darren McGavin died Saturday at age 83.
Jimmy called me and he is now hooked to the Internet. He and his wife live in one small room in a house with others. A woman that lives in the house has DSL service. She let Jimmy hook into her DSL service. He has run a cable to his room. Jimmy maybe reading this post right now.
Jimmy, he likes to be called "James", said that on the back of her DSL modem there were three jacks for connections. I have never seen a cable or DSL modem like that before.. the ones I have seen have on network connection, sometimes also a USB, and you hook the one connection to your computer or into a hub, switch or router. But this worked out excellent for him. He did not have to mess with any router settings or anything.
I worry about Jimmy. I worry about all my kids. No matter how old your kids get you worry about them.

Most of you know that it is hard to find past post on this blog. I am sorry for that. I use TypePad software for this blog. It is excellent. It does fail in one area and this is finding old blog post.
There is the "Archives" on the right side of the blog but it is sort of a pain in the butt to use it.
I have added a good site search link here now. SEARCH THIS BLOG
You will find it in the menu on the right. I may work up a button soon.
Enjoy the seach. Now you can find all those times I lied to you. Smile

I am old and I do not want to waste any time that I have left of life. But you know I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up after the elections are over. In November we are going to have elections for congress.
Right now the Republicans control all of Congress, and of course the white house. The Republicans are in charge of everything.
Many people think that the Republicans may lose control of the congress in the next election. I have even seen Republicans on TV saying that may happen.
The Republicans between now and the elections are going to try put distance between them self and President Bush. They will be trying to find times when they can not vote for his issue. They want to go into the election and tell the voters.. no see I did not go along with President Bush this time and that time. So I can stand up to him and I can make my own decisions. Will it work? It may work the American voters are pretty dumb.
You got to remember that the Republicans have no honor or truth in them..so they will try any ploy to win. The will be for tax cuts. They will be for mom, apple pie and the American flag.
They also will pull out hot button issues; gay marriage, the ACLU, 9-11 and no telling what else.

I hate to read the news. The body of a missing 8 year old boy was found. The police were looking all over for him. His body was 80 yards from his house in a pond. This seems to happen here all the time. The police will be searching an area and then the body will be found on the front door of home. For God's sake start the search at ground zero and SEARCH SEARCH.
We all love to watch Law & Order on TV. We want to think that is how the police operate. We want to think that they care about people and they give 100% on each case. We want to think they are smart and do their job. I wish that were true.
If you want to know the truth read about some big cases in history. You will see over and over again that the police made major errors. You will see that the police did not pay attention to the public. There are cases where people have gone to the police time and time again and reported someone and said that guy is killing people. The police did nothing. Cases were a person will get away from a killer. They will go to the police and the police will kick them out of the police station and not take their phone calls.
I wish what I see on TV was what we get in real life.
Are their police like those guys on Law and Order? I do not know of any. There must be some someplace.
Because someone is a "detective" does not mean he is someone like the guys on TV. (I was a detective.)
Do I have an answer for the problem? I do not know what the answer is to the problem. I can only hope that you and I never need the services of the police.

I wish I could live my life over again and live in Florida. The weather is the reason. When I was very little, less than 5 years old, I guess my mom or dad or both took me for a walk in the winter cold weather. I do not remember it but they told me that I was crying and holding my ears. Maybe that was the start of not being a fan of winter.
I do think there is something to be said for seasons. Sometimes, in Missouri, we did not have the good change from one season to the next. But when you did have a change from Summer to Autumn (Fall) and then Winter it was nice. Spring and Autumn are nice in Missouri when you have them.
In Florida you have a cool Summer and a hot Summer. Or it might be a Summer and an Autumn. But in the "Autumn" here you don't have the the trees lose their leaves. In fact you have flowers and green plants all year.

Don Knotts has died. He was 81 years old. Most will remember him as Deputy Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show.
During the four years that I worked at St. Joseph Hospital, in Kansas City, I had many young black males come into the hospital and see me and call me "Barney Fife." Sometimes they would start singing the song "I shot the Sheriff."
Photo above is of me in 1973.
When I first started working hospital security people would ask if I had any bullets in my gun. If I was in the Deputy Barney Fife mood I will tell them I had one bullet in my pocket.
In the photo above the gun is a Smith & Wesson Outdoorsman .38 on a 44 frame. It was a big gun and I got a lot of comments about it.
