33% Rent Increase

The notice we got from the land lord was notice of a rent increase.  We now pay $900.00 a month.  In 30 days our rent will go to $1200.00 a month.  That is a 33% increase.

I guess I could say I told you so but on the other hand it was not hard for someone to guess it was going to happen…
The banned Radio Caracas Television station is uploading their programming to YouTube and the RCTV Colombia affiliate has agreed to transmit the evening edition of “El Observador” over it’s international signal.

I just watched “The Squid and the Whale” (2005) on DVD. 
“Based on the true childhood experiences of Noah Baumbach and his brother, The Squid and the Whale tells the touching story of two young boys dealing with their parents divorce in Brooklyn in the 1980's…”  Odd movie.  I had no idea it was based on a real story until after the movie was over and I looked it up on the IMDB. 

 

Bus Fire and Moving Day

I just got a email from Dick in Kansas City.  He was on the bus in the Kansas City area that broke out in flames.  The entire bus burned.  I saw video on KansasCity.Com.  No one was hurt but it was close.  Everyone was sleeping on the bus.  All the people made it off but it was close.  Maybe we will get more details from Dick soon.

Ken got an over night express letter via UPS today.  It is from our land lord.  I did not open it.  I will find out what it is when Ken gets home.  It is not going to be good news.  If we have to move this is a real bad time for us to have to move.  Ken is leaving for VA in about a week or two.  He will be there for almost 2 months.

 

Why Would I Lie About A Thing Like That

I think ShowMeBlog is looking very good right now.  If I can just keep from messing it up.  You know me I keep messing with things.  I enjoy playing with hard ware and soft ware.  I again want to thank “JC” (I do not mean Jesus Christ by the way) for the mast head he did for us.  It looks so good I wanted the rest of the blog to look good.

Most of the time I tell you everything going on around here.  Hell I have told you how much I weigh and my BP.   Hell I even told you when I went to the bath room and how much.  So you know I tell all right here.
Let me up date you on something that has been going on around here.  I have fans believe it or not.  It is not because I am special hell we all know I am not.  I am very common.  Some people would call me white trash or trailer trash.  I do not think that is fair and I would never call people that.
OK have we got out of the way that I do not think I am special?
The fans that I have are some of the best people in the world.  Maybe they are because of what I just said..they do not like me because I am special.  They do like like me because I am rich and they can get something from them. 
A few of them may not even like me.  They just want to follow what is going on with my life.  My life maybe like their life, in some way, or it maybe that is very much not like their own life and they just want watch how I live my life.  It maybe that some people get some useful information from this blog.  We may have some common interest.

For the past few weeks their has been one guy that has been wanting to chat with me all the time.  I had chat rooms before there was a world wide web.  I had chat rooms before there was a real Internet. Before the WWW began one of the few things on the Internet was IRC (chat rooms).  I hated the IRC and never used it.
I am not a fan of chat rooms or even the IM services.  They have a place and sometimes they are a useful tool.
Why don’t I like chat rooms?  The number one reason is that I can not be in a chat with people and get anything done.  I know many of you can be in chat and carry on with your life and your work.  I can not do that.  If I am in a chat I get nothing else done.  The other big reason is that you never know who you are talking with in a chat room.  No matter what they tell you have no way of knowing if it is true.  You do not know their age, sex, location or anything about them. 
OK I have had this guy that has been wanting to chat with me all the time.  He seems like a nice guy and seems interesting.  He seems very open and honest.  It seems like we have a lot in common.  Do you see anything wrong with this picture I am giving you?  Hell he seems like me.  I did some chatting with the guy.  But he wanted to chat all the time.  It became clear that he had made a big time study of me.  He checked out everything.  He read back issues of the blog.  So I start to think OK what is going on with this guy?  He does not seem to be gay.  He does not live in Africa and want to marry me so he can come to the United States.  I start to see that he is telling me lies.  He tells me things that he thinks I want to hear.  He tells me things that will make me like him.  I got to a Bush protest and he says he goes at the same time.  I say I am a ham and he says he is a ham.  He pretends to put his wife on the chat to talk to me.  He tells me all sorts of stories.  I do not have time for someone telling me lies.  I also just do not have time to be in chat with someone.  I do have things that I need to do.  I stop chatting with the guy.  He sends me email messages telling me that he needs to chat with me.  He pages me on AOL IM all the time.  He signs up for Yahoo and pages me on Yahoo IM all the time.  He attempt all sort of connections using IM programs. He pretends to be other people and sends e-mails and attempt to connect via IM programs.  OK OK you get the idea. 
I have no idea what is going on with this person. 
I could understand it if he were gay.  I do not think he is gay.  I could understand it if he was in Africa and he was thinking I had money and he is going to use me in some way.  But something else is going on with this guy.  I would like to know what the heck is going on with him.  He says that he has money.  I am wondering if I should just say OK I will chat with you for $10.00 an hour.  I could use the money.  But on the other hand I do not want to chat with someone, for any amount of money, that is not telling me the truth.  That is a big waste of time for them and for me.
If this guy is having mental problems then I feel sorry for him.   I know a little about people with mental conditions.  But I can not help him with his problems.  I have enough problems in my own life.
I ask myself “Why would I lie about a thing like this?”  There was a cute movie out a few years ago and the guy in the movie would like about thing.  He would not lie about anything important or try and cheat someone.  When someone would find it hard to believe what he was saying he would say “Why would I lie about a thing like this?” and the people would often believe him because there was no reason for a person to lie about he was saying…  I sort of feel like I am in that movie now.

Update on stuff

Today Ken had his final test at work.  He got the certification now.  He has completed all the training and testing.  He completed his certification before some of the others.  The next thing for Ken will be about 2 months of training on their new hardware and software in VA.

I have a doctor’s appointment for June 4^th.  I have not had the lab work done.  I have not seen a heart doctor.  I hate to cancel this appointment again.  I have done it at least 3 times so far. 

I have a Lotte ticket for tonight and the jackpot is $14 million.  I could do a lot of good with 14 million dollars.

Russell got a Logitech headset for gaming.  He did not get a USB one.  It has a long cord and a in line switch.  I need something like that for my computer.
I think what I need is their Logitech Cord less Headset for PC and Mobile Phones.  I could use it with my Palm Treo cell phone and with my computer.  The cost of it is $99.99 but Russell gets a employee discount.  I do not have the money right now.  Maybe I can one later.  Maybe later tonight if I win the $14 million Lotte jackpot.

I am going to be broke big time this month.  The $200.00 I paid this month for the lap top is going to hurt.  I got a $8.50 payment direct into my PayPal account for a PayPerPost.  (So now I have $12.99 in my PayPal account.  )

I have not done very much with my lap top computer yet.  I need a carrying case for it and a lap top camera.  I want to get out and get some place that has free Wi-Fi and just set up the web cam and send out streaming video.  I guess I would do it until the battery dies on me. 

My sleep has been getting all messed up.  I wake up at 0200 and then I just stay up because I got to wake Ken at 0400 and Russell at 0530.  I need to sleep and hope my computer alarm will wake me so that I can wake them.

I need to do a few videos.  I seem to have hit a dry spell.  I just do no seem to have much to say.

Obama Would Tax Wealthy to Pay for Health Care

Barack Obama has a plan to give all Americans health care.  He would pay for it by a tax increase on the wealthy.  He would do away with the big tax break that Bush gave all the rich people.
He seems honest and we do need health insurance for all.  But he is going to get pounded by people saying he is for a “tax increase” and he is going to “increase taxes” and on and on it will go.
The Republicans will say he is a tax and spend liberal. 
I hope he did not hurt his cause by being honest and by trying to come up with a health care plan. 
What he needs to do is try and explain  that having health care insurance for all will save us money.  But that is hard to explain to people.  It is easy to attack him and hard for him to explain the facts.

I hope we are not dumb and let some Republican lie to us.  I can hear the Republican now saying that he can cut the cost of the government and get the people off of aid that do not need it or deserve it.  They will come up with lie and tell you that they can fix things and with no tax increase.  They will say they can do it by saving money some place.
Americans fall for that shit.  We want to believe it. 

Making Changes Today

As you can see I am making changes to ShowMeBlog today.  So today May 29 2007 I will be making some changes to the design of the blog.  The made thing, I think, you will notice is me moving items around on the right and left side of the blog. 
Some of the items on the side are Java or Flash and if you find one of them is a problem please let me know.  Let me know which one is the problem and if your using IE or Firefox.

I said from the first that we should respect and honor the woman.  I said no one should say bad things about a gold star mother but I also said she was not doing any good for herself or the cause.
I think the only thing she did was show what a piece of shit Bush and his followers were … because of the way they talked about her and attacked her. 

I hope she can find some peace.  Things may not get better for her until Bush is out of office and our troops are out of Iraq.  But she lost a son and she will have to live with that pain for all time.

Jim Howard on line 24/7 for 25 years!

I have been on line 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for 25 years.  I started a bulletin board system in June of 1982 called Howard’s Notebook. 
I had to write my own BBS program.  It was for a TRS-80 Model I computer.  The Radio Shack computer had 48K of memory and a 300 baud modem.
I wrote the BBS program in Basic. 

This is before AOL and before the real Internet.
I am not sure when the “Internet” began.  My guess is in 1983 when the U.S. military part of the ARPANET became the MILNET. 
I know when I heard of something called the Internet and attempted to pull email in and newsgroup's that at first my connections would be cut.  They would say that only military sites and universities could use it. 
I am not sure what the date was but I had to have my computer dial into Omaha NB to get a connection and then I could bring Internet mail and news groups to Kansas City.  I had to tell people what the Internet was and how great the Internet was going to be.  This is before the world wide web.  Hell I do not thing the web began until 1995.

I did a bulletin board system from June of 1982 until about 1995 when I moved to the world wide web.  To learn about bulletin board systems you can buy “BBS: The Documentary.”  I have a few lines in the three DVD set.  A statement by me gets the big laugh of the entire DVD.  Over 250 hours of interviews were conducted for the the documentary.  I was interviewed in Carrollton Texas for the movie. 

My interview was almost 3 hours.  At some point the entire 2.5 hours will be put on the Internet Archive Home.  Right now some of the interviews are on line.  My interview is not on line yet. 

Jason Scott did a great job with the documentary.  If you were part of the bulletin board world as a “SysOp” or a user you may want to buy a copy of the documentary.  Also try and make sure your local library has a copy of it.  Jason Scott will not care if you buy a copy of it.  Burn a copy for yourself and give the 3 DVD set in the box/case to a local school or library.  Do not try and give them the copy you burn.

So I have been here on line for 25 years. 
You would think after 25 years I would have something to say and that I would do a better job at all of this.

Chavez's true color - yellow

There are a few people on the left here that want to see some good in Chavez. 
There is no good in the man.  He shows his true color when he shut down Radio Caracas Television today.
His true color is yellow.  He is a coward.  He can not stand to have any free speech or freedom of the press. 
What some of the left do not understand is that if Bush were in Venezuela he would be Chavez.  They are brothers.  They both want power.  They both want to do things their own way and do not care what the public think.
You might say but Chavez is left and Bush is right.  They are both after power.
Chavez just has less control on his actions.

Now we do not need to have our CIA do anything about Chavez.  Well we need to know what is going on down there but that is it.  It is up to the people of Venezuela to decide how they want to live and die.

Now what will happen is that Radio Caracas Television people will set up radio broadcasts from other nations into Venezuela.  I am not sure how easy it would be to do a television board cast into Venezuela.  My guess is that very few of the people of Venezuela have access to satellite TV. 

We do not need any Radio Free Venezuela.  At least not one funded by the United States.  The people of Venezuela have let Chavez take power and they will have to be the people that remove him from power.
