Happy 2K8

  For many of you 2k8 (2008) is here.  We have about one hour and 45 minutes left until 2k8.  I want to wish all of you a very happy new year.
  I can hear fire works being shot off.  Back in Kansas City (MO) you would hear some fire works at midnight but here in Miami it must be the Latin hot blood can not wait until midnight and they are shooting them off now.

  It is 10:15 PM (2215) Eastern time here and Ken has gone to his room and Russell is in him room and I am in the living room (my room).  I know Russell is on his computer and I bet Ken is also on his computer.
  You can see we are not party people.   Smile
  Ken is going out tomorrow with a couple of friends an do something.

  You heard first about many things here.  You may have hard about PayPal and all of the other things by reading ShowMeBlog or Howard's Notebook.
  OK OK I know you heard about PayPerPost here.
  Well here is a new site that has a way for you to make money with your web site or your blog.  It is, of course, free.  It is called Pay-Per-Play. 

  I do not know very much about them yet.  I will keep you posted.
 
  Oh let me update you on the GoDaddy.Com CashPosting.
I posted here that it was $4.00 each month for each domain you list with them.  I was wrong.  It is $4.00 and then you can set up a bunch of domains.  I have about six domains listed.  I think the first month my income was $4.69 cents. So I made a profit. Smile.  I made 69 cents.

Boot-camp coroner is out

A state panel voted unanimously not to keep embattled medical examiner Charles Siebert on the job Saturday, even though he was the only one to apply for the post.

Siebert was the medical examiner who conducted the disputed autopsy on a teenager who died after an altercation with guards at a juvenile boot camp last year..."

  At first I read the story and I said to myself justice at last.  I have said here, in the past, that one of the things I think that is wrong with the United States is that people get away with not doing the right thing and I think if they were held accountable we would all be better off.
  So this coroner is out.  But he appears to be the only one that wanted the job of coroner for the six-county area here in FL.  Plus he was a doctor that made $180,000.00 for doing the job.  A coroner would have be on call all the time.  He would get called out at all hours of the day and night.  Now $180K is a lot of money but for a doctor on call 24/7 it is not enough money.  You can tell that by the fact that no one wants his job.
  In Missouri, my old state, the job of coroner is an elected position and you do not need to be a doctor.  I never was a fan of that idea but I knew a coroner and he was very good.  But just think about how many bad coroners there must be in Missouri.  (Want to kill your wife and get away with it?  Move to a small county in Missouri.
 
  In this case this "doctor" needs to be out of the job of medical examiner.  Plus, I think, he should never hold a job like that again.  I wonder if his medical license should be pulled. 
  When I first heard about the juvenile boot came incident I knew what took place and when he issued his ruling I knew he was lying and covering up. 
  I wonder about all the other deaths he ruled on...what about them?

Clean Floors

  Our new place is so much better than the old place.  The old place we lived in for five years.  When we moved in it was apartments but during the time we lived there they became condos.  When we moved into the apartment it was not in best of condition.  During the time we lived there they had to put in a new fan for the air conditioner.  But it needed a lot of work on the place.
  The place had a rug that was dirty and should have been replaced when we moved in the place.  The entire place was depressing.  You could not keep the rug clean.

Year end odds and ends

  It is 0200 on Sunday December 30, 2007 and I am going to write this and then go to bed.
Later today, yes on a Sunday, the land lord is having installed here a brand new kitchen stove.  That will be nice.  He is a real nice guy.  Much better than the other guy we had for five years at the other place.
 
  I have not received my new insurance card or anything from the company yet.  I did get all my Rx filled so I am all set for a month.  I should have an insurance card by the time I need more medications.

  I found out today that Yahoo Phone is still taking out $2.99 each month for the Yahoo Phone service.  I canceled it months ago and have not used it in months.  I spent an hour today, on their site, trying to find some way to keep them from taking the money out of my account and I can't find a way to turn it off.
  I get so sick and tired of places that do that..they should have a clear and simple button that you can click on and turn it off.
  I use a couple of Yahoo services.  I wonder if I did away with my entire Yahoo account if that would stop it.  I like the other services but I am so pissed ...I am willing to kill off everything Yahoo just to put an end to it.

  I got my first real phone bill from AT&T.  This is the first one that was not an install one.  I pay $31.00 for "Complete Choice" and about the only thing on the list that I want is the Caller ID.  I also pay $4.95 for a Voice Mailbox.  I don't use it and don't need it.
  Then because of something I have they turn around and knock off $5.00 and $4.95 for the Voice Mail. 
  Then for unlimited long distance calling they charge me $16.99 a month.
  The "FastAccess Ultra" Internet service they charge me $32.96 each month.
  Then there are a bunch of taxes and fees and my month phone/Internet bill is:  $99.00 a month.  That is a lot of money.  I wonder if I should go back to using VoIP. 
  I should get $140.00 in rebates from AT&T but I have no idea how I apply for them or get them and I got a bad feeling they are going to tell me it is too late.

  About the middle of the week we are going to have a cold spell in Florida.  We will have a high of about 60 and the low will be 40 and in some areas lower.  That is cold for Florida.  Since we have been here we have never turned on the heat.  We may need to turn on the heat.  People here will think they are at the North Pole. 

  I am looking forward to 2008.
  I ordered a ham radio the other day.  I want to have a ham radio and I want to get active in the hobby again.  I should get the radio sometime between the 4th and 7th of January. 
  One of the things I want to do during 2008 is upgrade my ham license to the "General" class.  I will need to study for the test and then find a place were I can take the test.
  There are bunch of little extra things that I would like to get for the radio but I can't afford them so I will get them later.  My ham blog is:  CQ CQ de N0UWY  After I get the radio I am sure I will starting posting items to the ham blog.

  Well time for me to get to bed.

In the Land of Women (2007)

  I just watched "In the Land of Woman" on DVD.  It was very good.

Along the way he forms a special bond with the family that lives across from his Grandma, and changes the life of each woman.   Director and writer Jon Kasdan did an excellent job with this movie.  He had an excellent cast including Meg Ryan. 

The Simpson's Movie (2007)

    I watched "The Simpsons Movie" (2007) last night.  I am a big fan of the TV show.  The movie was good but I was surprised to find that it was too long for me.  I think I am programmed to watch for 30 minutes.
     It was not like when the first "Star Trek" movie came out.  I remember sitting in the movie and I could not wait for each minute of the movie and after the movie was over I sat in my seat wishing it had been a longer movie.
     I rented the DVD of "The Simpsons Movie" and it was OK.  I am glad I did not go to a movie and pay for it in a theater however I suspect that with other people around laughing it might have been more fun.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A Clay County woman's family said it's seeking justice after their loved one died shortly after being shocked 10 times with Taser guns during a confrontation with police.

The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court, according to a WJXT-TV report.

In April 2006, officers with the police department said they were called to a disturbance at a home in the 400 block of Harrison Street just before 5 p.m.

Netflix offers unlimited online viewing?

  I am a Netflix customer and I have not received any email yet from them.  I think this would be a very smart move by Netflix.  I only get one DVD at a time.  I could see them offering free on line viewing to customers that get more than one DVD at a time.  I might upgrade my membership.
