  It looks like some good news from North Korea.  They are a crazy people and I did not expect much success with them.  I home someone in the White House can get President Bush to keep his mouth shut.

  (CNN) -- The group controlling Internet domain names may soon decide whether to relax naming rules and potentially open up a virtual domain name gold rush.

“…At a meeting in Paris Thursday, the board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers will vote on two key proposals.

The first would allow domains that do not use Latin characters, meaning domain names using Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic letters. The other proposal would allow domains to use nearly any letter or number combination, up to 64 characters.

If ICANN approves the proposals, the world of .com and .org and country names like .jp or .fr would be opened to a much wider choice, such as .hotel or .sex…”

  I hope they know what they are doing.  I do not see how it is going to help me.  A “.sex” domain is not going to help me.  I do not search for porn or watch porn.  Even if I told Google when I do a search do not show me any .sex domains I do not think it would have any effect.  Those sites are going to have all the other domains because they are on the Internet to make money.
  One thing that might somehow help would be if you could tell the search site do not search any .sex domains and do a cross check and if any site has a .sex domain then do not list any of their non .sex domains.  

  Did you read about the FBI arrests of 300 prostitution workers?  It sounds like the FBI has been working on this for five years.  FIVE fucking Years!  Five fucking years?
  They could arrest that number each day.  On the way to work an FBI agent must drive by at least one hooker.  God dam, five fucking years.  
   Plus why in the fuck is the FBI spending their time and money dealing with this shit.  This should be the job of the state and local police.  How much money has the FBI spent on this project?  That money could better have been given to local cities to do the same thing.  Five fucking years!!!

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Peace Lutheran Church, 8240 Blue Ridge Blvd., where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Friends of The Zoo. Rebecca was born April 30, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo., to Milburn B. and Betty A. (Schwarz) Mein. She graduated with honors from UMKC with degrees in English and Journalism. After graduation she continued her love for writing and received awards for short stories. She wrote many stories for herself, family and the church. She was a member of Friends of The Zoo and was active in Adopt a Wild Child. She leaves her parents; sisters Arlene Perkins and her husband Douglas of Las Vegas, Nev., Carol McArthur and her husband Steve of Gladstone, Mo., and Grace Mein of San Bernardino, Calif.; nieces and nephews Angie, Mickie, Sarah, Tyler, Tayler, Tripp, Madison.    I was so sorry to read about the death of Becky Mein.  She was a wonderful person.  She was a saint.      
    Becky called into Howard’s Notebook back when it was running on a bulletin board system.  I forget the date.  But she was one of the first to call into HNB.  She was using a Apple computer.  Her father had made some changes to the computer so that Becky could use the computer. 
    I may not be correct but I think Becky had Cerebral Palsy.  She had to use a wheelchair and she had little use of her hands.  Your asking how did she dial into HNB and HOW did she get a degree from UMKC?  She did all her typing with a pencil in her mouth!      
   One time her father drove her to a BBS house party.  We then carried her, in her wheelchair, up the stairs to the party.  She had so much fun and everyone just loved her.  She had a wonderful loving family.      
   I am sure things were very hard for her and her family.      
   I only saw a little of Becky.  I think of her often and I will never forget her.      
   She was a wonderful, loving, kind, sweet soul. 
   Rest in Peace Becky.

   Update:  I put links to the Zoo and the Peace Lutheran Church.  If you got a few extra dollars you may want to donate in the name of Becky.
                 This may not be the correct time or place to mention it but the church web site sort of sucks.  That might be a good project for someone that does not have the money to donate.  You could fix their web site and put a little logo at the bottom or something that it was done in memory of Becky.

AT&T Land Line Service

  I had to pay my telephone bill today.  I asked about the DSL service that I have with them.  The woman said I can cancel the land line service and still have DSL Internet service.
  I am not going to do anything today about making a change.
  What I am thinking about doing is doing away with the land line phone service and going with a AT&T cell phone and a data plan. 
  It is rare for me to talk on the telephone to anyone except for my ex-wife who calls me each day and talks for close to one hour.

  I could set back up with Skype and my ex-wife could call that number.  She did that in the past. 
  So I could go with a very limited cell phone plan.  I would want unlimited data service because I want to be setup to post to Howard’s Notebook and send out some video as I move around Miami.
  This would work well during storms and bad weather here in Miami.
  I know there are experts out there that read this blog and so my question is what do you think of the idea?  I have a Palm Treo 650 that I could use for the service.  I am a techno geek so I would not mind getting one of he new phones.
  Right now for land line service and DSL Internet I pay about $100.00 a month.  The DSL Internet is $32.95 a month.  I would like to keep my bill at no more than $100.00 a month.  
  I would like to have a cell phone voice plan and unlimited data plan for $75.00 a month.  If I could get the right plan I could go max of $100.00 a month.  Anyone have any recommendations?
  The reason I want to stay with AT&T is I get a discount for a package deal and they gave me some rebates when I took the service.  I suspect they might have some fine print that if I cancel all the services except for the DSL they will charge me.

  I told you about the Amazon Kindle.  I think I told you about it just before the release of it.  I wonder how many of you are using it.

Dave Winer Did Not Invent Blogging

  I found a site that keeps an “eye on Dave Winer” and, I would say, attacks him.  Who is Dave Winer?  I have no idea.

  I ran across the name and the site because someone did a search for “who invented blogging” and Google sent them here to Howard’s Notebook. 
  So I did a search back from that to see who else was on the Google page.
  Then I found the “Eye on Winer” site.

  I guess Dave Winer has been fighting to get listed as the inventor of blogging.  The author of the  anti-Winer site attacks him for that and says he is not the inventor of blogging.
  This guy says that Dave Winer could not have invented blogging in 1995 because the term “Weblog” was not created and used until 1997.  He says by Jorn Barger  started a site calling it “Robot Wisdom Weblog.”

Pig Out Day

  I am at 210 pounds now.  Yes I put on 5 pounds in one day.
  Russ loaned me $20.00 today and I went and got fast food.  I got Coke.  I got cheese and a big bag of chips. 
 
  I played Civilization III for hours and hours yesterday and today.
  What a total waste of time.  I do not know why I do it.
  I got two DVDs today and watched both of them.
  I watched “Charlie Bartlett” (2007) and disk 3 of “The West Wing: Season 2” today.  On IMDB “Charlie Bartlett” got a score of 7.4 out of 10.  That is with 5,583 people voting.  I would give it a 5.  It has some funny stuff in it.  It is a teen movie.

  You may have seen on CNN web site the story about the $6 billion in aid we gave to Pakistan.  We have not idea what happened to the money. 
  The Bush people have tossed so many billions of dollars down rat holes around the world and now you and I will have to pay for it. 
  I think Bush and his people have made such a total mess of things that I am not sure that anyone can fix it.  I do not think that people in Washington know how bad things are outside of DC.

   I been doing a blog since 1982!  I been using TypePad for my blog software since 07/2003.  On TypePad I have made 4,650 post and there have been 1,652 comments.
   I get about 2,000 visitors to Howard’s Notebook each day. 
   Most of the people that visit here did a search on the Internet and our site came up for them.  
   People do a search for;  Colin Farrell nude,  penis size, free porn, Britney Spears bare and subjects like that bring them here.
   But each day a few other searches bring people here;  who invented the blog,  “Pay It Forward”, Odontogenic Keratocyst, swimming nude in America and other searches bring them here.

  I am very happy with HNB.  The only thing that I am not happy about is that I had a Google PR rating of 4 for years and it went to 0 for some reason.

On Vox: Sticky & Sweet Tour

  I been a big Madonna fan for years.   OK, maybe fan is not the right word.  I never been to a concert and I just own one DVD.  I think I can still be a fan. 
  Madonna is going to be in Miami for her Sticky & Sweet Tour on November 26th.  Live Nation is doing the ticket sales.

Madonna is set to embark on a world tour beginning Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales with dates through the end of the year. Billed as the Sticky and Sweet tour, the trek will span three continents and include between 50-60 shows total, Billboard.com has learned.

At last a “girl” for me

       

  I saw on TV the new “girl robot” and I think I am in love.  At last a girl for Jim.

 

  I was sorry to hear about the death of George Carlin.  He was a funny guy that could make me laugh.  He also made me think.      
  He called God the “invisible Man in the Sky” and he seemed very bitter about the “bullshit” about God.      
  I hope God has a sense of humor.

  I do not see anything wrong with what he said.

  I commented here about the “child sex show case” in the past.  They have updated information on CNN.  When I posted about it I was wondering what the “silly pills” were that the children were given.  I read on line someplace that it was Vicodin.      
 
  Here is a more detailed report of the story. 
  I still wonder what made these people think they could get away with a crime like this.  So far two people are going to spend life in jail and some more people still need to go before the judge.      
      
   Today I had some of Ken’s left over chicken for lunch and for dinner I had some of his left over onion rings.  I had half a bottle of beer and some water.      
   I am still at 205 pounds.      
   I have not had any Coke in days.  I been having chest pains today.  My system needs Coke (please note the Coke with a capital “C” please).      
   I get my SS money on Wednesday so I am sure I will buy a bunch of food and Coke.  My guess is that my weight will go right up to 215 pounds.      
   I just need to watch what I eat and drink.  I can live without Coke but it is not easy.
