I watched a DVD last night. It was “Bigger, Stronger, Faster*” and I learned a great deal about steroids. In fact, I knew just about zero about the entire subject.
Bigger, Stronger, Faster* is a 2008 documentary film directed by Christopher Bell about the use of anabolic steroids as performance-enhancing drugs in the United States and how this practice relates to the American Dream.
“The film had its world premiere on January 19, 2008 at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. The film was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2008, and opened in limited release in the United States on May 30, 2008.”
I was a 97-pound weakling when I was a kid. I did not go to the beach. If I had gone I would have got sand kicked into my face. I sent off for information from Charles Atlas.
Even after I got the information I was a 97-pound weakling. Later I put on a few pounds and I went up to 115 pounds as an adult. I went down to enlist right after high school. The Army would not take me and said I was 40 pounds under their minimum weight.
A few years later when I took my Selective Service physical they send me a card that said I was 1-A. I went right down to enlist but they took a look at me and checked my weight and rejected me and sent me a new card 1-Y (In case of war or national emergency only).
A few years later they sent me a 1A card and I went to try and enlist again and they took a look at me and checked my weight and refused me and sent a 1Y card to me.
I never heard of steroids back in those days. What I needed to do was eat. I was living on TV turkey dinners. That was the only thing I knew how to cook.
