Google GDrive Soon

"Google has unofficially announced the GDrive by source code. In an in-direct way Google has publicly advertised the new much anticipated online storage drive called the GDrive. If you take a look at the source code of some javascript within the Google Pack, you will clearly see the GDrive referenced. The code categorizes the GDrive as an 'Online file backup and storage' device. It also provides the following descriptions; 'GDrive provides reliable storage for all of your files, including photos, music and documents' and 'GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device — be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone'"  Slashdot

  Sounds interesting.  I might use it.  I use a number of services now for photos.  It looks like I am starting to use the Google services more and more.

Blood Pressure

  I walked up to the CVS to get my Rx.  I had to wait behind a few people.  Then I got to the counter and they said they were filling my Rx right now.  So I waited.  Then got in line behind about five people.  I got to counter and they said that they could not fill the Flowmax Rx because it was written for half a tablet but the medication is in capsule form.  They been trying to get hold of the doctor but they could not get him.  I said I would call the doctor.
  I took my blood pressure when I was waiting at CVS.  At first it was 154/75.  Then I took it about 10 minutes later and it was what you see above 145/75.  When I got home I had something to eat and took my morning medication and about 15 minutes later I took my BP and it was 133/62.

  I had a lot of food yesterday with a lot of salt in it.  I think my BP is high today because of that.  I got a headache today and it is rare for me to get a headache. 

Internet Explorer 8 RC 1

  I just got notice of new updates from Microsoft.  It was Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate 1.  I now have it installed.  I hope it fixes a few things with the beta IE 8.  Some sites I would go to with IE 8 beta and the site would say sorry you have to be using Internet Explorer.  One such site was Netflix.  If you just went to pick out movies or look around you would be OK with IE 8 beta but if you attempted to view a movie it would say you needed IE.
  I have not had time to check out IE 8 RC.

  I am moving stuff around in the living room/dinning room.  I moved my computer again.  I do not have my bed in place yet and am not sure I have room for it.
  I also have not hooked up my printer, scanner and a few other things.
  I better get to work.

 

Form SSA-1099

  I got my form SSA-1099 today.  I got last year $13,096.00 from Social Security.  I am living on lest than $14K a year.  I live with my son and grandson.  My son and I split the monthly rent payment.
  Russell pay the electric bill each month.  I pay the cable and telephone bill.  Russ and Ken do not use the land line phone.  They both have cell phones. 
  I picked up two Rx today at CVS and left two new ones to be filled.  The Avodart last year I paid $15.00 a month for it.  This year it get it for free.
  I cancelled again the Netflix service.  I was paying about $18.00 a month and I just could not find any movies that I wanted to see.  Plus it was sort of a pain getting the DVDs mail back right away.  They have 13,000 movies that I could watch on my computer and out of 13K I could not find anything that I wanted to see.
  I am very happy with the Comcast cable and Internet service.  I paid the bill today by calling their phone number and using a credit card.  There was no extra charge for doing that.  AT&T would charge me $5.00 to pay the bill on the phone using a credit card. 
 

  One of the Rx I was given was for Flomax.  I did not know that people took Avodart and Flomax at the same time.  I have been taking Avodart.  I guess my doctor wants me to take both. 
  I hate taking any medications.  I never took any medications until a couple of years ago and now I am on five.  I am 67 years old and for about 65 years I made it without taking medications.

  If the Flomax works and if I am not as tired all the time I could try and find a job doing something.  I would not need to work full time.  On the other hand I would hate to take a job from someone that might need it real bad.

I Saw a Nurse Practitioner Today

  I went to the doctor’s office today.  The doctor was running late so I saw the Nurse Practitioner.  It did not matter to me.  She spent more time with me than the doctor does when I go.  She changed one of my medications and wrote the Rx herself.  I did not know they could write a Rx.
  I been feeling pretty good the last few days but that is because I stopped talking one of my blood pressure medications and my BP is a bit high.  When my BP is were the doctor wants it I am so tired I can not even stand up.

  I am going to be hurting big time for money this month but that is nothing new.  That is normal.  Now having said that I tell you that I spent $60.00 for a professional template for my WordPress site.  Yes, I know there are thousands of free templates for Word Press sites.  I like the template.  It is on The First Blog. 
  Please tell me you like the template.  Smile

  Since Howard’s Notebook has a Google Rating of 0 and is not getting indexed I am trying to decide what I should do.  The First Blog has a Google Rating of 2 and is getting index very fast. 
  I am thinking just blog at The First Blog and have all that appear here. 
  I am not sure just what I will do but it is no fun blogging and not having Google index what you post.

House Passes Stimulus Bill

  It is hard to believe that we would have a $819 billion stimulus bill and even more hard to believe is that it would be on a party-line vote.  The vote in the House was 244 to 188.  No Republicans voted for the bill.
  
  “NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The House on Wednesday evening passed an $819 billion economic stimulus package Wednesday on a party-line vote, despite President Obama's efforts to achieve bipartisan support for the bill.

The final vote was 244 to 188. No Republicans voted for the bill, while 11 Democrats voted against it.

The Senate is likely to take up the bill next week…”

  What are the Republicans thinking?  I guess we could ask what is President Obama and the Democrats thinking now?  The President of the United States went over to Congress and talked with the Republicans and he did not get one vote.
  Plus in that $819 billion stimulus bill is billions and billions that was put in to please and make the Republicans happy.  Can we talk out all the stuff that the Republicans wanted in the bill but that Democrats are not sure will help the nation?

  Since the no Republican voted for the stimulus bill we know they will be praying and working to make sure it does not work.  That is what is scary.  Who caused the current problems?  I say mostly President Bush and the Republicans.  Now not one of 188 would vote for a stimulus bill that we are all down on our knees and praying for to help get us out of this mess.

  President Obama is a better man than me.  I would say fuck them all and may they all go to hell.  He will keep trying to work with them.

  In order to pass in the Senate the package will need 60 votes.  That means all the Democrats have to vote for it and they have to get at least two Republicans.  It is expected to pass in the Senate.
 
  OK, what are they waiting on?  Show me the money.  Where is my $300.00 from the stimulus bill?

Google Sucks

  I was not happy with Google when they did something that took my Google PR rating from 4 to zero.  They did it to many others at the same time.
Now all of a sudden Howard’s Notebook is not being indexed by Google.  We still get hundreds of hits each day from the times in the past when they indexed the blog but when I post something new it is not going into the Google index.
  They have a lot of power.  The power to make or break a web site, blog or business. 

  The First Blog is being indexed very well now.  How long will that last?  
  We all use Google to find things on the Internet.  I use them all day long so we have given them these super powers. 
  It just sucks. 

  Right now Howard’s Notebook has gone from having 1000 visitors each day to 600.  Of that 600 I bet 450 are people that did a Google search. 
  I bet only about 50 people a day say I am going to check out Howard’s Notebook and come over and visit.
  There are about 100 people that get Howard’s Notebook via an RSS reader.  
  Google sucks or did I just say that?

  It has been years but I went over and checked my old blog on LiveJournal.  I have had Howard’s Notebook on TypePad since 07/2003. 
  I started using LiveJournal for my blog/diary/journal 04/06/2000.  I made 1278 posts to the LiveJournal blog.

  I have made 5304 posts to HNB using TypePad.  If your doing the math that comes out to 6582 posts.  Of course I have had other sites so the real number of posts would be much higher than 6582.
  Keep in mind that I been doing this since 1982. 

Weapons of War

"These are weapons of war, and they don't belong on the streets of Miami or any other street in America," Mayor Manuel Diaz said.

  “MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Miami police issued a plea for information Saturday after at least one person opened fire on a crowd of people on a street corner Friday night, killing two teens and wounding seven others.

"We need the community to come together, someone come forward and give us a tip," Miami Police Officer Kenia Alfonso told CNN.

"There are a lot of people in that area. Someone must have seen something, someone must know who could've done this horrific crime."

Alfonso said two teens, ages 16 and 18, died in the attack, which occurred in front of a grocery store about 9:50 p.m. Friday in the city's Liberty City neighborhood…”

    Sorry Mayor Manuel Diaz but the National Rifle Association does not agree with you.  The NRA believes that Americans have a right to own a AK-47.  The NRA also objects to any limits on the number of weapons that a person can buy and own.
    The NRA would say if all of those kids would have been armed then they could have defended their life and they could have taken out the guy doing the shooting.

   "It was like a war zone," resident Joan Rutherford told CNN affiliate WSVN. "I witnessed this guy laying there with his face, looked like it was completely tore off. His eyes was all I could see, and he had a grip on some money and gasping and trying to lift his head up to say something."

   The NRA would say that the kid was trying to say that he should have used that money to buy an AK-47. 

  Of course the NRA makes a point to say that guns do not blow of a person’s face or kill a person.  Guns do not kill.  It is people that kill.
