Well Fargo RSI

  As you know I am a fan of Kiva and I loan money each month.  Well Wells Fargo has a short little RSI test. It is very short and very simple and they do not ask for your email address or ask you to sign up or anything. 
  They will donate $1.00 to Kiva for each person that takes the test.
  I took the test…  My RSI score was 0.0 yes I know it is sad… Smile

  I have two lottery tickets for Saturday.  The Florida Lotto is $5 million and the Florida PowerBall is $120 million.  I could make a lot of microloans with that last amount. 

 
 

Deployment of ANDE-2 Satellites by STS-127

July 30, 2009 at 1722 UTC, space shuttle Endeavour (STS-127) deployed the Atmospheric Neutral Density Experiment (ANDE-2) consisting of two satellites, Pollux and Castor.

New GI Bill – August 1st

  After WWII the nation had an excellent GI bill.  Many service men returned from WWII to get an education and go on to live good lives and help the United States because of that education.
   I am not sure when the GI bill ended but service men that served after that did not have as many benefits.
 
   Tomorrow we will have a new “Post-9/11” GI bill.  It is about time.  How stupid we have been to not have an excellent GI bill for our service men.

     As the article on Military.Com points out it does not cover online schools or technical schools.  I suspect that will be addressed and changed soon.
     If they do technical/trade schools I hope they monitor them.  When I worked security at a hospital we had a truck driving school that we got patients from all the time.  The school was getting a lot of money from the government and it was a racket.  The school sent out agents to get guys living on the street in other towns and some, if not all, of the guys were on drugs.  The school had someone else do the drug test for the guys.  Someone else was pissing for them.  You get the point.  So if they are going to do technical and trade schools they need to check them inside and out and stay right on top of them. 

Listening for satellites

  I put in  the“QRG"s of the four satellites to be launched by the Space Shuttle Endeavour.  Not sure when they will launch them but will be before they land tomorrow.  I have a scanner (radio) but I just have the small indoor antenna on it.  I wish I had an outside antenna.
  I tracked satellites in the early days of space.  I even did a column in a publication with details and QRGs and orbit information.  That was a long time ago.  I used to track Explorer 7 and would fall asleep with my headphones on and the next orbit it would wake me up.  Yes.. I been a geek a long time.
  When I started Howard’s Notebook I had some of that sort of information on HNB and that was 1982.  Lot of changes from when I tracked Sputnik 1 in 1957. 
  When I did my radio program “Calling All Shortwave Listeners” I would play each week a track from the 45 rpm “Sounds of Space.”  It was made by Elmo Melton.  I forget his call sign.  Now he had a hell of a ham radio set up and tracking station.  NASA lost one of their satellites and he found it for them.

White board

  I got the white board today.  It is very nice and just the right size.  I could not mount it above my computer.  We have no tools around here. I moved stuff around and I got it just sitting over at the side.  I will work on getting in mounted above my computer.  We have a drill but no drill bits.  Smile

  I signed up for Nomee and for Ligitech Vid today.
  It is 0553 and I been up all night.  I feel like I could go to bed..but I got to wake up my son at 0815.  He has a doctor’s appointment.

  Two more days and August will be here.  It is going to be hot. 

  I am thinking about a Palm PDA again.  I had have had a number of Palm devices over the years.  I even had a Palm T|X and I can not remember why I sold it now.  I think I sold it when I got a Palm Treo cell phone.
  I may look on eBay for a used Palm T|X.  I love the Palm O/S.  For years I had all my data with me.  I gave away my Palm Treo and then crashed my computer and lost years of data.  My memory is not good.  I need something with me to remember my name and address so I do not get lost.  Smile
  If I do get the Palm I am going to look and feel like a fool.  I will be walking around with my cell phone on my belt and my camera and a Palm.  Oh well.. do I care what people think? 
  If I remember correct the Palm did not have the best display in bright sun.  I think a HP iPAQ has better display in bright sun…but then it does not have the Palm O/S.  What every I get I want it to have WiFi for one thing. 

Logitech Vid

  Logitech has a new free program/service out that works with some of their webcams.  It works with my Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 so I downloaded the program.
  I ran the program and then it asked me to sign up.  It asked for name, email address and a password.  Then I took a photo.  I then logged in as a member of Logitech Vid.

  You can then “Add a Friend” or make a “Practice Call.” 

   From the settings it looks like it is sort of like Skype.  You can call someone on list or people can call you.  You have the choice of accepting incoming calls automatically.
