I admit it…I am getting old…and little things piss me off…
One thing that drives me crazy is the camera guys around stars trying to get photos…they get in the face of people..the stand in the street … They block the streets and jaywalk…on and on … For some reason it drives me crazy.
I think what drives me nuts is that the police seem to do nothing…
TMZ reports today Debbie Rowe called the police on two photographers and they both were arrested. One did not have a driver’s license and one for riding on top of the first guy’s car while it was moving.
When I was a police officer you had to work real hard to get a ticket from me. In fact I was a police officer for ten years and used less than two ticket books. I did traffic stops but I gave a lot of warnings and talked to a lot of people. One kid that I stopped for speeding and who I did not give a ticket to decided because of me that he wanted to be a police officer and he became one in our department years later and then went on to become an excellent Kansas City (MO) police officer.
You had to be going, at least, 10 miles over the speed limit before I would give you a ticket.
I think the police should stop and check these photographers and use any excuse. Jaywalking, one mile over speed limit …any excuse.. I think they should put some officers on them and the people they work for…follow them and ticket them and arrest them for any thing they do that is not legal…Yes, I do know about police harassment and I do not think it would fall under that if it were done correct.
The photographers are bullying people and stalking people. They cause accidents and they break traffic laws all the time. I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of the press but this is crazy. Having a mob in the street standing in front of moving cars and chasing cars and flashing cameras in the face of people is not freedom of the press.
I hope the police will start enforcing current laws. I am not sure they need any new laws.
I know it would not work and might not even be legal …but the take the city of LA it was in the news that they need money very bad. Now if stars live in the city of LA or work in the city of LA and a street photographer takes a photo of the star have a 99% tax on the photo. If they guy takes a photo and sells it for $100K he would have to pay a tax to LA of $99K. I know it would not work they would set up an agency and sell to the agency for $1.00 and then the agency would turn around and sell for $100K and then give the guy is money somehow.. But there has got to be some smart people out there that can come up with something to put an end to mobbing of stars. It is not just stars but anyone that gets in the news. It could be you or I tomorrow.
One thing we need to do is adopt the type of laws about legal and court cases that they have in England. There the press can not report on the case before the trial.
