Kansas City Bar-B-Q

  I am from Kansas City and that means I know good barbecue.  I have not seen good barbecue in Texas and I found none in FL.  Well let me correct that statement… I found “good” barbecue but not “excellent” and nothing like KC barbecue.
  I live near Spring Creek Bar-B-Q and I have eaten one time take out and one time inside.
  The barbecue is OK.  The problem is the sauce. 
  I was at the Save-a-Lot today and I found a bottle of Kurtz “KC Style” barbecue sauce.  Next time I get something from Spring Creek I give the Kurtz sauce a try.

Fort Worth Air Show

 

  Next year I am going to have a great view of an air show right from my patio.  I am on the second floor and my apartment even sits on a bit of higher ground than apartments around me.

  Plus I can pick up the radio transmission of the Blue Angels and other aircraft.
It is something that should be pretty neat.
  If I have a laptop by then I will send out streaming video of what you can see from my location with audio.

Moving day for ShowMeBlog

  I made some changes here... pretty big changes...In fact.. Not sure how many of you will even read this...

  People that go to www.showmeblog.com now end up at Howard's Notebook.

  I set up a new domain for ShowMeBlog and it is:  www.showmeblog.net

  I am trying to put all of my effort into Howard's Notebook

  But I am not going to kill off this site.
  But Howard's Notebook is where all the action is going to be....

The Office Chair is off the list

  The office chair has been ordered.  I am not sure when I am going to get it...but it can not be to soon for me... I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up when the bed, computer desk and office chair are here.

  Russell is better..He may have just had a cold... The NyQuil D has taken care of his problems.  Of course you can not take it forever so not sure what happens when he is not taking it.

  We have the heat going here in Texas.  It is cold... I am going to miss the Miami weather.

  I hope my monitor last until the computer desk gets here.  Just a bit ago I started to get up and I pushed on the boxes to push the chair away.. NOT good.. the monitor started to fall off the box. 

  The number one thing on my list now of things I must have is this:

 

    What do you think?  The apartment is mostly carpet except for the bathroom and the kitchen.  Any recommendations?

Starting to make it a home

  I got my big box today... It has a lot of junk in it... It was 60 pounds and cost me $65.23 to send it.  Jimmy found a video card in the box that was better than the card he had in his computer....I will not see much of him... He can now play a game that he could not play before.. So he is happy.

  Jimmy walked with me over to the Kroger store.  I like that store ... It looked good and they had very good prices.  It is located at 9114 Camp Bowie, Fort Worth, Texas.
  They had great prices...They had a lot of TV dinners for 10 for $10.00 and a lot for $5.00 for $10.00 my problem was carrying them all home.  At some point I need to look into getting a car.

  I told you that I have a computer desk on the way and here is what it looks like.

 
  I also now have a bed on the way and here is what it looks like.

 

  Now I just need a office chair and I am all set.

Jim Howard said let there be video

  My late box showed up today.  It is 18x18x18 in size and had a lot of junk in it.  There were a lot of cable and computer stuff that I will never use.
  There was my Logitech QuickCam 9000 Pro.  I am running Ubuntu and the question is will the camera work with it.

  Cheese did not work but messing with it more may get it to work.  But I installed quvcview and it worked.  Now the question is ... Will it do videos and will it do videos with sound?
  We will know soon.

   I had a real American donut from a donut shop.  The guy spoke English and there was no Cuban "donuts" and no Cuban coffee.  I feel like I am in America again.
  The drivers here in Fort Worth do not try and run over you and on my scanner I hear the police doing traffic stops.  I never heard the Miami/Dade police doing traffic stops.

    I am sitting in front of my box "desk" with the keyboard on my lap and I can look out at real America and not a third world city. 
   I wonder where should I put my desk in this big room.  I may make a video of the room and you can leave advice.  I am thinking in front of the window.  But then anyone that came in the room could see what was on my desktop.  It is not good if you are reading mail and talking about someone and they walk in your room and see the email about them right on the desktop.  Smile

Allergy Symptoms

  As soon as Russell got to this apartment he started having allergy symptoms.  The people that had this apartment before us had a cat.
  The smoke detector was not working and I took it down and it was filled with hair and I am guessing it was cat hair.
  Do not worry I cleaned it and put it back up and got it in operations.  They had unplugged the smoke detector.


  Russ is feeling bad...nose running and sneezing.  I went to the drug store and got him something so he could sleep... I had to show an ID and you can only buy one a month. 
  He took it and he is out for the night.  He has been sleeping a couple of hours and it is only 9 PM now.  I guess I will take my night medication early and go to bed.  We have no TV and I am running Linux so I can not see a movie from Netflix ... in fact we have no radio...Smile...  I might as well go to bed.

  I hope Russell feels better tomorrow.

  Update:  I woke up at 0400 hours and Russ was awake.  It is raining.
  I watched a couple of things on www.hulu.com before I went to bed last night.
