My Mexican breakfast

  I decided today was the day to try out the little Mexican store that is near here.  It was just starting to rain when I walked over to the store.

  It is a food market with a large meat section and they are set up to serve food.  The cook did not speak English but the other guy did.
  I had them make me a burrito with eggs, sausage and the extras in it.  It was excellent.  It was big.  They cut it in half for me.  Next time I will eat haft there and take the other half home.

  Sonic was open early so I got Russ a drink from there.  He loves their drinks.
  I got very wet walking home.

Justice Ginsburg's husband dies of cancer

"Washington (CNN) - Martin Ginsburg, husband of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, has died of cancer at age 78.

A statement from the Supreme Court said Ginsburg died Sunday at his Washington home, due to complications from metastatic cancer. The court said a private ceremony will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, but no date was given.

Ginsburg, known as Marty to his friends and family, was the outgoing, jovial opposite of his soft-spoken, diminutive wife, but the couple maintained a strong, happy marriage over 56 years.

Their wedding anniversary was four days ago. The Supreme Court will wrap up its work for the term Monday, and recess for the summer. Justice Ginsburg was on the bench as recently as Thursday as rulings were announced."

Robert Byrd dead at 92

"Washington (CNN) -- West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd, the self-educated son of a coal miner who became the longest-serving member of Congress, died early Monday at age 92, the senator's office said.

Byrd, a nine-term Democrat, was known as a master of the chamber's often-arcane rules and as the self-proclaimed "champion of the Constitution," a jealous guardian of congressional power.

His speeches were laced with references to poetry and the Greek and Roman classics, often punctuated by the brandishing of his pocket copy of the national charter.

He was also known as the "King of Pork," using top positions on the Senate Appropriations Committee to steer federal spending to his home state -- one of the nation's poorest…"

  He married his high school sweat heart with they both 19 years of age.  She died in 2006.
  He was the same age as my mother.  He was a welder during WWII at a ship yard.  Both my father and mother were welders during WWII in a ship yard.  My guess is that since he was a welder in a ship yard that he was also a member of the boilermakers union.  Both my mother and father and I were members of that union.

  So you got a man that was just a common man … that did uncommon things and saw great things done and even did great things and over came the racism.
  I hope we can just put him to rest in the ground now with out it becoming some test on racism.

  I know I spend all day doing searches of the web.   If I can get credit for it and end up with things I can get for doing it..It sounds like a great idea.

Nullification – the Tenth Amendment

  My God, I am so tired of these stupid and crazy people that think that a state has the right to "nullify" a federal law.  Nullification has been ruled unconstitutional every time.  Federal laws are the "supreme law of the land." 
  Now it is bad enough when you got some Tom, Dick or Harry that lives down the street from you thinking that the state of Texas, or what ever state you are in, can nullify federal law but my God we got guys that are holding political office thinking and preaching it. 
  I do not understand how we can make it as a nation when we have people that stupid.  Not only do they vote in elections but they hold some state offices.  What is going on in schools?  They teach history in schools correct?  They teach government in schools right? 
  Maybe we need some very very basic test given before you can vote.  I know… I know.. we had states, in the past, using that to keep blacks from voting…So we do not want to open that can of worms again.
  But what about a test with ten simple questions;  "What state is this?" Could be one question.  
  OK… I know it will not work.. It is a bad idea..

  But how do we deal with these people that do not understand the basic form of government? 

  I think what we need is another Gov.  Orval Faubus.  I was in high school when the 1957 Little Rock Crisis took place. That was before earth satellites, cable news and the world wide web.  ( I however did have a printed publican that I put out monthly! Yes, I was in high school at the time.)
  Now we need another man like Gov. Faubus.. Well we got them…We just need for something like this event to happen again …Let the governor of some state like TX or AZ take some action to "nullify" federal law and then it would be the education that some of the American people need and that some of them did not get in school.
  Let Gov. Rick Perry or some other governor "nullify" some federal law and let the education begin.
 

  What happened in 1957?   What was the Little Rock Crisis? 

  Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus refused to allow black students to enroll at Little Rock Central High School.  A federal court ordered Governor Faubus to allow the students to enroll.  President Dwight Eisenhower even met with Governor Faubus and warned the governor not to interfere with the Supreme Court's ruling.
  Governor Faubus called out the Arkansas National Guard and had them block the black students from enrolling.  President Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican, took control of the national guard away from Governor Faubus and ordered them to leave the school. Let me repeat that again..  President Eisenhower federalized the entire 10,000 member Arkansas National Guard and the governor no longer had a national guard or at least that he could issue any order to them.
  The President of the United States then sent in the United States Army (the 101st Airborne Division.  They saw to it that federal law and the court order was followed. 
  At the time, remember I was alive and watching it on TV and listening to it on the radio, President Eisenhower was ready to have federal police officers and the 101st if needed arrest Governor Faubus.  As I remember it.. Governor Faubus then agreed that he would not take any action that would force the federal government to arrest him.

  OK OK.. No I don't want anything like this to happen again… We got to many crazy and stupid people around now.. I think we got more today than in 1957.  Now with cable TV you would have the nuts on Fox "news" saying who knows what on the air and you would have a lot of crazy people with guns running around and some people would get hurt.

  We need education.  We need Fox "news" and some of these stupid people to get an education.  Learn about our system of government and our laws.  This is a great nation.  We got a great system.  I am not so sure about our education system.

Fox affiliate reporters trashing Palin?

"A Fox affiliate television station is refusing to apologize for accidentally broadcasting a room full of reporters offering very frank assessments of a speech by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

The slip-up happened Friday night as Fox40 in Sacramento was broadcasting live from California State University, Stanislaus. After the speech concluded, journalists and crew members behind the scenes offered some off-the-cuff assessment of her remarks, with one man saying he felt like he'd just stepped off a roller coaster.

Another said he could understand why "the dumbness doesn't come through in sound-bytes." Yet another argued that she'd not used a complete sentence or even "made a statement."

The station insists their reporter and photographer were not behind the comments -- however, they do not offer an apology or name the reporters whose voices were picked up.

Indeed, it's possible the error was due to Palin's pronounced dislike of the media, as even the Fox crew was turned away from her actual speech, according to their explanation. Instead of filming the former official up close, they were forced to point their cameras at a screen in a media overflow area at a separate venue…"   the raw story

 It seems that because Sarah Palin does not like the media and because she makes the same sort of speech over and over again..If you can call it a speech…She does not let the media cover her speech.
  So the Fox affiliate set up in a room with a CCTV feed of the speech for reporters.  After the "speech" the people forgot that the Fox station was broadcasting the speech from the room and reporters started commenting on her speech.  It was honest but not pretty.

Dave Weigel and JournoList

    Rand Paul is still not talking much to anyone … He is only talking to very right wing media people that he can be sure are not going to ask him any hard ball questions.  It is funny and sad at the same time.  Rand Paul was The Tea Party hero about one day and then he spoke.  Now the Republicans … all of them want him to NOT say one fucking word.
  He did give a little interview to David Weigel the conservative blogger for The Washington Post.

"…RN: You've started to take heat for your approach to the BP escrow fund. Do you support the fund, the way it's set up?

PAUL: Well, I don't think there are many people who don't believe in any regulations, myself included, and even my dad -- I don't think you'll hear him say he doesn't believe in any regulation. But I'm not sure I have the answer to that, sincerely. I think everyone in the country wants BP to pay for the clean-up, myself concluded. I've never had any argument with that -- it's amazing how you say things and they get blown into things you didn't say! I'm not even sure I can talk to some people anymore because they take things out of context…"

  Of course the things he said were not taken out of context.  He just said shit that made him look and sound racist.  Even hard core Republicans and many of The Tea Party supporters were dumbfounded.  They were flabbergasted and thunderstruck.  Everyone told him do not say anything.  He fucked up a couple times after that and now he has been hiding. 

  It is sort of interesting that he gave the interview to Dave Weigel.  I am not sure I fully understand what the story is with Dave Weigel.  It is my understand that he was hired by The Washington Post newspaper.  I guess, they are a liberal newspaper and they wanted a right wing point of view. So he started doing a blog for them called "Right Now." 
  The newspaper could say see we are open to the conservative point of view. 
  Well David Weigel was one a select few that was allowed to join an elite private forum.  The 300 or 400 people in the forum had to be approved and they only accepted the "best" and the "brightest" political reporters/bloggers.  (I wonder why I never got an invite to join? Smile)
  The rule was everything on the Listserver was private and off the record.  The Listserve was started in 02/2007 and called Journolist. 
  Yes, surprise surprise … someone took a lot of Dave Weigel's messages off the Listserver and made them public.  I guess in them he is thinking and discussing different points of view and he comes across as not a real conservative.  I have not seen the messages and have no desire to see them.
  Well the shit hit the fan.  Dave Weigel had to resign from The Washington Post.  The Journolist Listserve has been shut down.
  It is sort of funny and it is sort of sad at the same time.
 

  It is funny on so many levels.  You got these special smart political reporters that did not see this coming…come on 400 "reporters" and bloggers discussing issues and no one is going to leak it?  How smart are these guys?
  You got a liberal newspaper that picks a hard core right wing guy to write a blog for them and he turned out to not be a hard core right winger in all his private thinking.
  You got Rand Paul trying to talk only to the right wing media and he ends up talking to a closet turn coat?
  

Rise Up

  The Tea Party has a music video and I guess they got a documentary now.  Not a bad  music video.  The only problem, I see, is that it does not give a true picture of the movement.  In the video when you see the protesters if you heard what they are saying you would run in the other direct from them.  But with editing it makes you want to run and join them and march with them.  Smile
  Hell, they even show some black people and at the end you here "free at last..thank God, free at last." Smile
 

  It is a good music video for them.  But I have seen a lot of other videos that make my heart pound and made me want to join and march with them. 
  Of course those were movies put out in pre-WWII Germany.
  Music and video are very powerful.  They can be something good or like in this case something evil.

  Just about all of the American terrorist seem to always have read and have the same book with them after they do their act of terror.  The book is "The Turner Diaries." I got a feeling now they will have a DVD with them of the music video "Rise Up."

Do you feel guilty?

  Do you get the feeling that BP, the Republicans, Fox News and others in the media are trying to make us feel sorry for BP and guilty because the price of their stock is falling?
  I understand that lots of good decent people have invested in BP.  Many retirement plans invested in BP.  Not all those people are Republican fat cats.  Many are little common people.
None of us want the price of the stock to fall. Hell, I wish the price of the stock would go up and the company would be worth more money.

  BUT.. It is not my fault that the BP stock price is falling.  It is not the fault of the President of the United States.  It is not the fault of Democrats. It is not the fault of the people of the United States.

  It is the fault of BP.  It is the fault of bankers, Wall Street and investors. 
  If you invested in BP you were investing in a company that was gambling …They were shooting craps.  They were out of their depth!
  They were drilling off the Gulf coast in depths of water that they had little control if something went wrong.  They were gambling that nothing would go wrong.
  I just heard on the news last night that Brazil is going to have much deeper off shore oil drilling at MUCH greater depths. How long before oil will wash up on the beaches of Brazil?

  Like I said.. I hope BP can make money…Lots of money..I hope the price of their stock goes up… But it is NOT my fault if BP fails.
  BP is the guilty corporation and the people that run BP.

  Of course, the the little investors get fucked.  That is the way the entire system is designed.
