I took a few photos yesterday with my new camera. My camera is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55. Here are two of those photos. Now the photos were taken with the camera in "Intelligent Auto" mode. The camera studies the view before you take the photo and decides on the correct settings.
The photo below was taken in number 26 bus. I was in the back of the bus.
The photo of the flowers I just walked up close to the flower. I did not use a micro mode and I did not zoom. I did crop the flower photo. I wanted to see what sort of detail I would get.
When I get time I will play with the zoom on the camera. The more I use the camera the more I like it.
I guess to be fair I should post the flower photo before I did the crop. So here it is.
Definitely use a macro or close-up mode for those close flower shots. Also need to work your focus a bit as it seems to have back-focused on the foliage over the flowers. There again, the proper "mode" for the shot will likely compensate.
