Happy New Year to All of You

  I want to wish everyone of you a very Happy New Year.  I hope that 2011 is going to be a good year for all of us.  I hope it will be a good year for the United States of America and a good year for the entire world.

  I walked up to a little store to pick up one Texas Lottery Mega Million Ticket.  If I win it would be worth a cash value of $154,000,000.00 and if I won I think I would have a nice 2011.

Hostages in Pearland (TX) Bank Robbery

  It makes for some interesting listening.  Right now the police officers are demanding that the news media move back. 

“PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- A bank manager has been wounded during a terrifying robbery playing out in Pearland, involving several hostages.

At about 11:30am, the situation began at the Chase bank at 1915 North Main Street, near a Walmart. Armed suspects are still in the building threatening violence against several hostages. Reports are there are two gunmen and at least six hostages. They are believed to be a mix of employees and possibly customers. Unconfirmed statements suggest that some people inside the bank were allowed to leave in the minutes after the robbery.

At 1:30pm, two people exited the bank. One person was taken into custody.

Pearland police say there were shots fired when the fleeing robbers saw a police officer responding to a 911 call pull into the parking lot. That apparently forced the robbers to retreat inside the building, and the standoff has continued.

About 60 law enforcement officers, including FBI agents and SWAT officers, have surrounded the bank. Police have requested Eyewitness News stop providing live streaming video from SkyEye above the scene, due to security precautions. Negotiations with the suspects, two or more, are underway…”

Odds and ends of the old year

  I cancelled Netflix and a few other things in the last month.  I was thinking about doing away with Skype.  But I keep thinking that it might come in handy if I get a WiFi device of some sort.  They had some problems recently and they gave me a couple of credits that I did not ask for so it makes me think I should keep them.

  I will be getting money next month from Google AdSense.  My earnings right now are $105.93 and I will make a little bit today.  So next month I will get some money from them.
  I am making over a dollar a day now from them.  That is sort of my basic goal.

  I have earned 300 minutes from Virgin Mobile in Kickbacks.
(If you sign up a phone with Virgin Mobile they ask for a Kickback code.  If you put in my code:  eJ7W7Tnn you and I get 60 minutes of free minutes.)
  The problem is that I am signed up for the 300 minutes a month for $25.00 and I never use even 30 minutes a month.  I am wondering if I went to the $40.00 a month plan with unlimited minutes what do they do about the “60 free minutes?” I am thinking they give you a $20.00 credit?  If that is the case maybe I should go to the unlimited plan?

  You know Virgin Mobile has unlimited 3G Internet for $40.00 a month.  I could buy their plug and play USB device the Ovation MC760 ($79.99) and then for $40.00 a month I could have unlimited Internet for my laptop computer.
  OK OK,  you know me to fucking well.. I know .. I never go anyplace.. Plus I sure never take my laptop anyplace.  But it would be neat. 

 
 

    Right now it looks like the best price would be to buy direct from Virgin Mobile.  But check the prices before you buy.  If you do buy it for Virgin Mobile post a comment about how you like it.

The Last Day of 2010

  Today is December 31st 2010.  I can not believe how fast time is moving. 
There was a time when each year at this time I would think how great the new year was going to turn out.  I would think that things were going to be better in the new year.
  I wish I could remember when that changed.  Now I think next year is going to be worst and that things are going to get real bad.

  I did a journal, do not want to call it a diary for some reason, for years and years.  I had a stack of them.  A few years after my divorce I would sometimes go back and read from the old journals and then re-live some real bad times.  I would get real pissed.
  So I burned them all.  It was best for my mental health but it sure was nice to go back and look up information.  I had an insurance company send me a letter one time and it said that x number of years ago I ran their client off the road on such and such a date and time and they demanded money from me.  They said it was in Kansas City (KS) and I had not been in KCKS in years.  Plus I looked up the date and I knew just where I was on that day.  It was pretty neat.  I sent them back a letter and tore then a new ass hole and demand that they apologize in writing to me right away.  They did!

  When I stated doing a journal I also gave my mother a journal each year.  She wrote in it each year right up until she died.  Each year I would give her one and she would say she did not need it that she would not be alive for the next year to write in it. 
  When she died I looked at a couple of pages of couple of her diaries and burned them.  I think most of the time it is best to NOT read the diary of a family member.

  I think it is the same with many blogs.  If my family does not read my blogs I will be very happy. 
  Now friends are different.  I may piss off some good friends by a blog post but it is a good way for friends to know what is going on in my life. 

  It must be the news media that turns me off about a new year now.  Or it might be political things that get me in a depressed mood. 
  I wish I could think things are going to be great next year.

YouTuber terminated

  I liked a YouTuber “Stevelikestocurse” and I went to check to see if he had any new videos and found that YouTube had terminated his account.
  Steve had lots of content that was all his own content.  He started doing a few videos were he read some poems.  He called it “Bad Poems Read Badly.” 
  I did not even think about a copyright problem.  Hell, who in the hell reads poems?  I guess if I did think about it I would think that anyone that wrote a poem should be happy for someone to read it and post it on YouTube.
  It seems that is not the case.  Steve read a poem  by Michael Lickteig called “I am Alone.”  Michael Lickteig reported Steve to YouTube and got him kicked off of YouTube.

    I looked on the Internet for information on Michael Lickteig and he lives in Kansas and is self-employed.  Here is his web site:  Red House Studios: The House of Ideas
   I can understand someone that is unemployed self-employed wanting to make sure they get paid for their creative work.  
   I am a low class guy. I never read poetry.  But I saw Steve’s video were he read Michael Lickteig’s poem.  Steve did an excellent job of reading it and I liked the poem. 
  Steve, of course, gave credit to Michael Lickteig as the author.
 
  I have seen a lot of Steve’s videos and I think I know him.  I know if Mr. Lickteig had contacted him and asked him to remove the video or put links or something to his site that Steve would have done it in a second.
  So … Yes Mr. Lickteig had the right to contact YouTube but he appears to be to be a bit of an asshole for not just working things out with Steve.

  I have not talked to Steve or Mr. Lickteig about this so I do not know all the details but I hope that Steve can get back on YouTube I miss his videos. 

Agathe von Trapp dead at 97 years of age

“(CNN) -- The oldest daughter of the Austrian family portrayed in the 1965 film "The Sound of Music" died of heart failure Tuesday, a friend confirmed.

Agathe von Trapp, 97, was in a Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, Maryland, when she died, her friend Mary Louise Kane told CNN Thursday.

She fell ill November 9 and was moved on December 2 to the Gilchrist Hospice, said Kane, who ran a kindergarten with von Trapp in Glyndon, Maryland.

The 16-year-old Liesl von Trapp character in the movie was based on Agathe, but the writer and director took great artistic license with the portrayal, Kane said.

"(Von Trapp) was nothing at all like the Liesl character," Kane said. "She was a very private person and a bit shy. She didn't like being in the limelight at all."

Contrary to the movie, she was not the oldest of the von Trapp family. An older brother was made younger in the script…” 

  If you have been reading ShowMeBlog you know I am a big fan of “The Sound of Music” movie.  I love the movie, the music and the “story.” 
  That everyone took “artistic license” is a big understatement. 
  I think very little of the story is true and then on top of that they changed the story for the movie. 

New Year’s Resolutions

  Many years ago my resolution was to gain weight.  I was very thin when I was young. It has been a long long time since I was wanting to gain weight.  Now I am with all the other people and each year I make a resolution to lose weight and get fit.
  I know I would feel so much better.  I bet I could stop taking blood pressure medication.  
  The Medicare health care plan even gives me a free health club membership.  I have not signed up for it yet.  I guess one of my resolutions should be sign up and go to it.
 
  I eat to much and I eat the wrong foods.  I do not see that changing.  I think the only way I could eat less and eat better foods would be if I had a wife that was cooking for me.  (Having a wife would be worst than getting fatter. 

  Thank God, one thing I do not have to fight is smoking.  I have never smoked.  I have family that smoke and I know how hard it is to quit. 

  I also do not drink.  I never have been a drinker.  So I do not have to deal with that problem.  I thank God for that. 

  I would like to enjoy life more.  I think I have had depression all my life. So I think the only way I am going to enjoy life more is if I take medications and I do not want that. 
  If I had more money so that I could buy stuff I think I would enjoy life more. Getting new toys does make me happy for a time.
 
  Everyone one wants to get out of debt. That is not a problem for me.  I have very little debt.  In fact the only debt that I have is from the last year for medical problems.  If the United States had health care the way the rest of the world has… I would have zero debt.
  But any medical problems that I have come up during 2011 will put me in debt. 

  Getting organized is always something I want.. I never feel like I have a full control over things.  That is way all my life I have made list and used things like PDAs and computers.  My dream computer or device would be something that got organized.  My Palm PDA was a device that in that direction. 

  What are your New Year’s Resolutions?
 
  I guess I have a goal and that is to make at least $100.00 a month from Google.  If at the end of 2011 I was making $300.00 a month I would be very happy.
  I would like to see Russell get a full time job. I would like to see him with a better job.
  I wish I could help Jimmy … I worry about him.  He stays up all night and sleeps all day.  He does not seem like he is interested in getting out and doing anything.  The only thing I know for sure that would get him out of the house would be a trip to a casino. 

EMail address had expired

  I use Google Mail mostly for my email but I have a lot of other email accounts.  God, I got so many I wish I could just have one account.
  One of the email services I been using and paying for many years is NetAddress.  I used to pay by the year but for the last year or two I been paying monthly.  Not a good idea.  I just found out it expired about 10 days ago and I did not know it.  The notices were in their trash or junk folder and not getting pulled in by GMail.
  I got to start paying these things by the year.  Hell it is even cheaper to do it by the year.

  Google GMail is a good email system.  I recommend them.
NetAddress is also a good email system but they have a small fee. I think it is like $6.00 a month.
 
  GMX is also an excellent email system.  You can sign up for free.
  Both NetAddress and GMX both have extras that they offer. 
  GMX has spreadsheets, database and all sorts of things most if not all are free.

  I hate all this stuff that bills all the time.  I have a couple of hosting sites that bill me.  I got other things that bill.  Skype bills a number of different things.. I am not even sure what I spend it each month with them.  I think I pay x amount each month for the ability to call out for free.  I spend x amount each three or four months for the phone number and I think I spend something for something else.  It is all confusing.
  Skype has a lot of power and the ability to use it say from a WiFi network is interesting.  
  
  These little bills that get from time to time … drive me crazy.  I forget about them. I am surprised often when I get billed.
   I suspect I am being dumb.  I should be using something like Google Calendar to note down the dates that things are due.  But I got at least three Google accounts.. Hell, I do not know how many Google accounts that I got.  I never use Google calendar.  I never use any calendar.

   I think when and if I get a smart (android) cell phone then I will start using things like Google calendar and other things like that to keep track of things.

   Oh when I used a Palm device I had everything on my Palm device and I was up to date on everything.  I miss the Palm operating system.  But the way to go now is a smart phone.

No more Netflix and …

  I cancelled my membership, yes again, with Netflix.  I just can not find anything to watch on Netflix. 
  I canceled the Audible trial membership.  The cost each month would have been something close to $25.00 and that is a lot of money for me.  I liked the service.  If it was not for the money I would keep the service.  Well,  I guess that is not true because when I went to cancel they had some pop up offers to keep me that were very sweet deals.  But I did not take them. 
  One thing both Netflix and Audible both make it very simple and easy to cancel your membership.  I like that.  I HATE sites that hid how you cancel your membership.
