“(CNN) -- Union workers and activists celebrated in the Wisconsin Capitol early Monday, as police relented and let them spend another night on the marble floors of the building's rotunda.
"This is a huge, huge moment and that's why you are seeing dancing and hearing drumming," protester David Wasserman told CNN affiliate WISN. "It's a party."
Authorities had given demonstrators until late Sunday afternoon to leave the building, saying it needed to be cleaned after roughly two weeks of protests…”
Most of the protesters have now left and others say they will leave. They should all leave. They did their protest.
Some protesters say they are not going to leave and will be arrested. That is OK if they want to do that form of protest. They should NOT however force the police to carry them out. The police support them and their cause but carrying dead weight out of the building is going to be hard. It will be hard on the offices backs for one thing. So if they want to be arrested they should tell the police they refuse to leave but if they are arrested they will walk without resisting to the police cars.
Gov. Scott Walker left the police and fire unions out of his union busting plans for this first go around. That was smart of him but the police and firemen all know that when he is done with these unions he is going to bust their unions next. They can bet their lives on that fact.
What the workers of Wisconsin need to do now is make sure that in one year that Gov. Walker is removed from office by a re-call election. They need to send a message nation wide to the Republican corporate shills that they will pay a heavy price for worker bashing and union busting.
Labor unions more than anything else made America great for people. (The other thing that made America great for people was the WWII GI bill of rights.)
It looks like, for right now, Gov. Scott Walker is going to win his battle. He has the power and he has the votes. There are also a lot of stupid Americans that do not know history and also that are jealous of the benefits that union workers got over the years by membership in a union.
My father was a union man his entire life. When I was in grade school I think the rate of pay for workers was about 50 cents an hour. My father made $4.40 an hour. My father was a boilermaker. (Local 83 of The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.)
There are dark days ahead for all of Americans except for the rich fat corporation cats. The Republican Party, at last, is going to have their way and turn back history. Workers are going to end up being slaves of rich men again. There will not be a union to stand and fight for us. We will be alone naked standing against the powerful corporations.
