Today I am a septuagenarian! In ten years I will be an octogenarian.
So I am between the age of 70 to 79 and in my eighth decade!
For some reason when I think septuagenarian I think of the elderly ephebophilia Herbert in Family Guy.
I also think of Homer’s dad in The Simpsons.
I just do not think of any old people other than guys like that.
Now in The Golden Girls Bea Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan came across as alive and active. But I guess Estelle Getty was the old fart. (I know in real life Estelle Getty was younger than both Bea Arthur and Betty White!)
Are there any positive images of old men on TV? I guess I watch the wrong TV shows. I am a fan of The Simpsons and Family Guy.
I think there are lots of movies were some old man is the hero and is active and alive. I guess I need to watch more movies.
Truth is, I guess, it is how you feel about yourself that is the sort of image you will have.
I hate the liver spots. It is like signs all over you saying “I am old.” I also think if this is growing on the outside of my body what must be growing inside?
Just think how many liver spots I will have when I am an octogenarian.
I wonder if there are any benefits for being 70 or older. In Texas you can claim an exemption from jury service if you are 70 years of age or older. You can also request a permanent age 70 exemption. I might do that… The reason would be not my age so much as my prostate problem. I have to go to the bathroom all the time and now I can’t wait … When I need to go I NEED to go and that does not work out well for being on jury duty.
Well I made it to 70 years of age. That is something.
