Google has recently revealed its plans to release an app that will allow anyone to use a cell phone/camera and data capability to snap a picture of you and get your name and by extension, any publicly available info about you from the web! Google Facial Recognition App
Facebook has also been building automatic face recognition via its wealth of user submitted photos! It may find and tag you in any photos it NOW believes to be you. The article claims users will be allowed to OPT OUT via Privacy settings but no word on how you'll be able to report and/or fix errors and it's purported to be only used in aiding users in auto tagging friends in pics they upload but... I find (especially the Google app's) potential intrusions into our real lives to be something worthy of concern. Naturally one can clean out their fb profile and deactivate their account (it won't be deleted so that's another topic I'll cover!) but Google is trickier. What do you think?
