A few hours ago I was laughing. I saw that TXU, the electric company, showed that I used $518.00 worth of electric power in one day.
I had just paid my electric bill for last month and I had used 290 kWh of power and the bill was $30.95 for the month.
I was thinking that TXU must have had some sort of computer problems. I was not worried.
Well I am not laughing now. It seems that TXU is “rebilling” me for the last five months!
I have not heard from them yet. I am not sure if I will hear from them. I may just get a bill in the mail that says they have “rebilled” and that I will have to pay them about $700.00 for electric power!
I have been happy with the electric bill that I been getting. Russ and I do not use a lot of electric power. I have put in all CFBs here in the apartment. We do not have a washer or dryer.
I was surprised however that are bill was so low.
Back a few months ago a guy moved into one of the apartments here in the building and the office told me that he was very unhappy. He was using very little power and he had very high electric bills. The office had Oncor come out a couple of times and check his meter. They did not find any problems with his meter.
Now from what the apartment office is saying …. Oncor found that his meter was not reading his power usage but some other apartment and they did not know which apartment.
I guess now for some reason they have decided that this is the apartment that is hooked to his meter and I guess his apartment is hooked to this apartment. I am just guessing. I don’t know and I am not sure that they know.
So they are rebilling me, I guess, and so starting in September they say they billed me for 737 KWH of usage but I only used 606. They say for October they billed me for 496 KWH but I used 947. They say that for November they billed me for 413 KWH but that I used 2138 KWH. They say for December they billed me for 443 KWH but I used 2576 KWH. For January they say they billed me for 290 KWH but that I used 1946 KWH.
I have no idea how they came up with those numbers. Of course I have no idea how many KWH I did use.
Now if I had done something wrong… If I had changed the wiring on the meters or something like that … Then I would say what they are doing was fair. In fact I would think they should have the right to have me arrested for stealing.
But their workers installed those new meters and hooked up those meters.
But I am going to pay for their error. Plus I will never be sure if the meter readings now are correct.
Plus think of all the other people in this apartment complex and others here in Fort Worth. How many of them are hooked up wrong. My guess is that if you live in a house then the meter maybe the correct meter for your house. But how many apartments are hooked up wrong?
I will let you know what happens and what I find out.
