“(CNN) – The Vatican is turning up the heat on a group of nuns it says are operating outside of the Roman Catholic Church's doctrines.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, the church’s doctrinal watchdog, on Wednesday announced the conclusion of a years-long “doctrinal assessment” investigation of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, which represents 80% of the Catholic nuns in the United States.
The “assessment reveals serious doctrinal problems,” said the report, which called for major reforms.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith appointed Archbishop Peter Sartain of Seattle to institute those reforms…”
“…The report also took note of public statements from the nuns that opposed the Catholic Bishops. The Leadership Conference of Women Religious and Network vocally disagreed with the Bishops' conference's position on the Affordable Care Act, which they supported and the Bishops did not…”
The Vatican report talks about the nuns as “radical feminist!” The only time I hear anyone using that term it is Fox News and their staff.
Sounds me to like the Catholic Church has a great bunch of nuns. The group that the Vatican objects to represents 80% of the Catholic nuns in the United States.
It would be great if they just all took a walk. Leave the United States with no Catholic nuns. I am sure all the nuns support themselves and even give some money back to the Church. They should leave or they could become Lutherans.
Or they could just form their own version of the Catholic Church. I am not sure what they would call it. I would join them in a new modern open church. One with out the input of the right wing “Catholic” Bishops.
They are nuns and I am sure they will stay working for the sick, the poor and the old and they will just suffer from the Vatican and the U.S. Bishops.
The Bishop that did the investigation was James Peter Sartain. I feel sorry for him. He was born in 1952 but if you believe in God and if you believe that got answers prayers I would not want to be him. Just think 80% of the nuns in the United States praying that something bad happens to you.
How about they form a new Church: The Democratic Catholic Church.
