I got my new voter registration certificate in the mail today. On the back of it they said that the new Texas law now requires everyone to have a photo ID to vote.
That is to prevent fraud by people voting that should not be voting!
I am 71 years old and I have never heard of any voter fraud. In the United States it is hard to get people to go and vote. There are not people doing voter fraud.
Now I do not have a problem with people having to have a photo ID. But the entire reason for these new laws is to keep people from voting. It is a Republican idea that by requiring photo ID and making it harder to vote that they can keep blacks and others from voting.
It will work a little bit. I saw a news story were some woman I think she was 101 years old and she could not vote because she did not have a photo ID card. She has been voting her entire life and now at age 101 she can not vote.
How much money did the Republicans spend to get a nonexistent voter fraud problem law? Plus many states have then had to spend millions fighting court cases about the stupid law.
I did a little search on the Internet and found a report that 11% of United States citizens (21 million Americans) do not have a government issued photo ID.
The Republicans must have done some research because I found that 25% of our black citizens of voting age do not have a photo ID card.
