Getting an android phone on Wednesday

  The doctor’s office called and they moved my appointment up to Wednesday.  That was OK with me.  I will get my cell phone a day early.  I am going to the appointment and right across the street is a Best Buy and I will buy my Samsung Intercept.  I hate paying $219.00 for it now.  It was on sale at Best Buy for $180.00 a short time ago.
 
  You, of course, know what this is going to mean… A lot of talk about android and about applications. 
  But look on the good side.. You will be hearing less about the Republicans. 
  Yes, I blog about what interest me at the time.  
 
  I wish the Samsung Intercept had a better camera. I could just leave my digital camera at home.  I take my cell phone and camera with me at all times.  If I go to the mail box or take out the trash I take both of them with me.  I would be nice to have just the cell phone.
  I have a daughter that has an iPhone and she takes excellent photos with the camera on the iPhone.  I think if you work at it you can do it.  

A Galaxy S phone coming to MetroPCS

  I had just about decided to go ahead and get the Samsung Intercept cell phone and stay with Virgin Mobile service.  My plan was to do that in 11 days. 
  I read on www.phonedog.com that Virgin Mobile will upgrade to Android 2.2 in the Spring.  So that is good news and then…
  I found out that MetroPCS is going to add this year a Samsung Galaxy S cell phone.  It will be the Samsung SCH-R910 and it will be running Android 2.2 and will have a 4 inch screen and 5 mp camera that will do HD video.  The cost of the phone would be $329.00 to $399.00 to buy it.

  I do not want to spend $400.00 for a cell phone.  On the other hand I would love to have that phone.  I would hate to go with the Samsung Intercept and then have the Galaxy S phone come out and have everyone going nuts over it.
  I need to get a Android phone and start using it and playing with it and learning what I can do with it.  I want to blog about it. 

  In case you are wondering… Why don’t I just get an EVO or one of the other kick ass cell phones.  I do NOT want to be tied down to a plan.  I hate that.  I feel like a slave. They always screw me… At least Sprint would do it.  I would change my plan in some way.. Some way that I was paying more money and they would say my two year plan started over or something.  I just felt like I was getting fucked all the time.
  I want to be free to switch phones or services and just be free to do what I want to do.  I like MetroPCS and Virgin Mobile.  So far I am very happy with Virgin Mobile. 
  I don’t have a Android phone yet.  But I have a cell phone and I have unlimited data and 300 minutes a month and I only pay $25.00 a month.  That $25.00 a month is fucking great and I think that is why I am going to end up getting the Samsung Intercept.

Android Phone

  This month I may get an android cell phone.  I have a doctor’s appointment on the 27th.  It is right across the street from Best Buy.  I could pick up the Samsung Intercept.  I have Virgin Mobile phone service now.  I did a review of the Samsung Intercept.  I liked it a great deal. 

  MetroPCS has an android phone and it is the LG Optimus M.  I have used MetroPCS service in the past.
 
  So what do you all think?   The Samsung Intercept (with a keyboard) for $219.00 and $40.00 a month or the LG Optimus M (no keyboard) for $199.00 and $50.00 a month?

  I have been reading some message forums and most, it not all, people are saying that the LG Optimus M is a better phone. 
  People say that the Samsung Intercept has some lag and they say the Optimus works better than expected.
  Also the Intercept is android 2.1 and it does not appear it is going to be updated.  The Optimus is android 2.2 and it is said it will be upgraded.

  Looks like my plan is to get the LG Optimus M and go with MetroPCS.

On line file storage

  For the first time Windows is a decent working O/S.  My computer is working great and I am very happy with everything.  But now I am starting to worry about losing data.  I am starting to think about backing up files and having my data saved for me.  I also hope to have a smart phone (an Android) cell phone and am wanting to have the ability to access my data from the cell phone.

So I been thinking about using an online data back up service.  I been checking on them and reading reviews and seeing how they are rated.  I have decided on SugarSync.  I am signed up with them now.  So far I love it.
  You can sign up for a free 5 GB account.  If you click on the link above you get an extra 500 MB of space and I get the same.  If you sign up for the 30 GB plan, $5.00 a month, and use the link above each of us gets an extra 10 GB of space.

  I hope I do not have a big crash on my computer but if I do I will have all my files and can re-build fast.  I think the ability to access all my files and data from any computer and even a cell phone is going to be the big thing for me.  I am signed up for the 60 GB plan ($10.00 a month) and my only question right now is that more space than I need.  Since I have never been good at backing up data I have no idea.

My new Samsung Intercept

  I got my new cell phone today.  It is a Samsung Intercept.  I love it.
If you watch the video you will see I have one little problem right now.  My advice is do NOT buy a cell phone from BestBuy unless you go to the store and get it.  Do not have them ship you one.  If you watch the video you will see what I am talking about.

  Right now I am using the phone using our home WiFi connection.  I have installed a number of great free Android applications.
  I have the radio scanner on the cell phone.  I can listen to Fort Worth police and fire on my cell phone.  Plus I got other great applications on the cell phone.
  Tomorrow I got to go to BestBuy.

QR Code for ShowMeBlog

  I now have the QR Code for ShowMeBlog at the top right of the blog.  I do not have a smart cell phone yet.  I should have it in 3 to 5 days.  So if the QR Code at the top right here does not take you to ShowMeBlog let me know.

  God, I love all this stuff now days.  I am going to be 70 in March.  I wish I was going to be 7 or 17 in March.  I would love to be around to play with this stuff for a few more years.

HTC EVO 4G cell phone

  My current cell phone is a LG Rumor Touch with Virgin Mobile.  I made a number of videos about it and posted them to YouTube.  
  The first about it got over 9K viewers so far – Watch and Laugh

  Well the camera that I wanted… the best cell phone camera out there is the HTC EVO 4G.  I wanted that camera but just could not bring myself to go for the Sprint plan for two years.  So I went with Virgin Mobile and unlimited everything for $25.00 a month.  Pretty sweet deal.

  Since you may not have been lusting for the HTC EVO 4G you may not have noticed that when you go to lots of site they have advs for the phone.  When I surf the web and I see those display advs.. I want that phone so much…
  Well my son and I are going to get one.  It is on order right now.  We are going to share it.  I am not sure how that will work out.  But we are going to split the monthly service fee for the service.
 
  I will do a video review of the phone when I get it and post it on YouTube and here.  I am sure I will talking a great deal here about the HTC EVO 4G and I am sure I will be posting a lot of videos and photos from it direct to ShowMeBlog. 
  The HTC EVO has an 8 MP camera that does 720i HD video!  
  If I was not sharing the cell phone it would replace the two digital cameras that I have now!
