I saw the headline on CNN “Democrat’s comment about Ann Romney creates firestorm on Twitter.”
I was thinking oh my God what did some Democrat say? Attacking the wife or children of someone in politics is not good.
Then I read:
“(CNN) – Democratic Strategist Hilary Rosen generated instant bipartisan criticism Wednesday night for her statement that Ann Romney has "actually never worked a day in her life."
The reaction on Twitter from high level politicos was instant and virtually unanimous: Rosen had gone too far…”
Then I am thinking well that does not sound to bad. Why the big deal plus, as I have said before, who in the fuck cares what someone says on Twitter?
“…Rosen, also a CNN political contributor and a working mother, made her comments on CNN's "AC360."
"What you have is Mitt Romney running around the country, saying, 'Well, you know, my wife tells me that what women really care about are economic issues, and when I listen to my wife, that's what I'm hearing.' Guess what? His wife has actually never worked a day in her life," Rosen said.
"She's never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority off the women in this country are facing, in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and why do we worry about their future," Rosen continued, adding that Romney "just seems so old fashioned when it comes to women."
Her comments drew instant criticism on Twitter from campaign advisers on both sides of the aisle, as well as one of Romney's sons…”
When you read what she said in context how can you object to what she is saying. I have heard Mitt Romney saying the same thing about his wife. If he says that about his wife and how he is getting advice from her … Then I think it needs to be pointed out that she has never worked outside of the house in her life.
I think Mitt Romney and his people had better not try and make a big deal out of the statement of Hilary Rosen. Because we have had, in the past, this sort of thing come up and the born again home school people got their panties all in a bunch because they made it an issue of religion. And Mitt Romney needs to do everything he can to not bring his religion into the debate.
I do not know what the Mormon religion’s position is on working women.
But this is a no win issue for Mitt Romney. I hope he does not fall into the trap.
Is his wife not working because of their Mormon religion?
Is his wife not working because they have millions and millions of dollars?
Did his wife not work because she had five boys to take care of at home?
By the way.. I worked with one older nurse that had seven children and she had to bring up alone. She worked as an RN and put all of them through college.
I worked with a younger RN and she had seven small children that she home schooled and she worked sometimes full time and sometimes part-time but she had a husband.
For a year and a half I had all four of our children when they were small. (During the time my ex-wife was dating and being crazy.) We lived in a small mobile home and I worked midnights. It was not easy. If you are part of the 1% you do not have to worry. Money takes care of everything. If you are part of the 99% you got to do what you have to do to feed and care for your children.
If I was Mitt Romney and his people I would walk away from the statement about his wife not working. It is a no win for him.
From what little I have seen of Mitt Romney’s wife she seems very nice. We might be better off with her getting the Republican presidential nomination. Even if she has never worked a day in her life.
I am not sure that Mitt Romney has ever “worked” a day in his life.
I worked as a welder for ten years. I worked in the heat and in the cold. I build railroad cars and trucks. I built truck bodies that were bigger than Mitt Romney’s houses. I got my head cut open. I worked and got cut by a grinder. I had my work shirt and pants catch on fire. I arc burned my eyes many times. Talk about pain. Think about hot sand in your eyes and you will have a little idea of what it feels like. I would be up all night walking the floor.
My wife and I had a small tropical fish shop and it was open seven days a week. I worked everyday and I worked nights. I worked 30 years hospital security. Most of those years on the midnight shift. I got shot at, I got bit, I got kicked and spit on. I had friends and co-workers shot.
I am not sure that MItt Romney should pretend that what he did was “working.”
I, of course, am not saying that white collar people do not work. I am just having some fun with Mitt Romney.
