I may get some new speakers today. If not today then I think they will come tomorrow. It is the JBL Duet Speaker set and the “list price” on Amazon is $42.99 and I got them for $29.99 with free shipping. The current speakers suck. In fact I have never had good speakers. I think the problem is not the speakers but my hearing. I have had major hearing problems since I was a kid. I have never seen a doctor about my hearing lost. So no matter what speakers I get I do not expect much improvement. But these cheap little speakers get good reviews.
I said the other day that I wanted a new $300.00 android cell phone. Russell said I should get a $300.00 android tablet instead. I think he is right. I been looking at some of them online. I guess next I will go and start looking at YouTube videos about them. Anyone have one they recommend? showmeblog@gmail.com or leave a comment.
The ViewSonic g Tablet with 10 inch LCD screen is only $259.99
Russell got a JVC Everio GZ-HM300 HD camcorder today on sale. He is going to let me take it to the gun show tomorrow. I just made a 2 minute test video with it and the file size is 384 MB. That is a large file.
The camera will do time lapse video and that might be interesting.
File size is so large I am not sure that I should try and use the camcorder for the gun show. I will think about it.
Overall the quality of the video was very good, the colors were very good, the contrast was just right, no fogginess to the image, darned good. I viewed the video both in YT's standard size embedded and in full screen on my 27" display and the quality did not diminish a great deal at full screen. Very little lag even at 720p. I'd say you've got a winner there Jim. Am I correct in understanding that you say it has a screen you can view yourself in? That's a very important thing to me.

“San Francisco (CNN) -- Google announced plans to bring out notebook computers running the company's new operating system, called Chrome OS, on June 15.
Samsung Electronics will sell a version with a 12.1-inch screen and Wi-Fi for $429, and another model with Verizon Wireless 3G connectivity for $499. Acer will also make a Chromebook with prices as low as $349.
Google will also lease the laptops to corporations and schools, a deal that includes the hardware, support services and management software, executives said at the company's annual I/O conference here on Wednesday. Monthly subscriptions will start at $28 per user for businesses and $20 per user for schools.
The new operating system is based on Google's Chrome Web browser but adds some extra features for connecting digital cameras and offline usage. Google says 160 million people actively browse the Web using Chrome, up from 70 million a year ago…”
Wow.. How out of touch with the real world is Google? I know saying Google is out of touch with the world sounds odd. But who in their right mind is going to buy one of their notebook computers running Chrome OS at those prices? Answer is no one. You can get some kick ass real laptop computers for those prices. It is odd to see a big smart company like Google make such an error. Now if they sell one of their Chrome OS notebooks for at the most $250.00 they might sell a few. I think the price needs to be more like $100.00 and then they could charge a monthly fee for access to the Google cloud. I think this is a fail but we will know soon.
After I posted about the Dynadock U in “I love Amazon Prime” I decided to just hook up the monitor not to the laptop but to the VGA connection on the Dynadock and give it a long try and live with it until Saturday when I get the digital cable and can hook up the monitor from the HDMI on the monitor to the DVI on the Dynadock. I had a little bit of lag not bad and nothing like it was before I installed the new Display Link driver. Well after I posted that blog entry I went to play the only game I play on the computer and that is Civ IV. The display was flashing on and off and I had problems moving the mouse around just to get it running. I am going to keep the hook up I have now and on Saturday trying to play the game will be a good test to see if a digital cable and hook makes any difference.
I took the free trial of Amazon Prime for 30 day. I hope I have the money to pay for the one year of service when my free month is up. I love Amazon Prime. I just ordered a HDMI to DVI D cable and it only cost me $6.47 and I will have it in about two days and I do not have to pay anything for shipping.
I want to see if the cable will make any difference with hooking up my monitor to the Toshiba Dynadock. I do not hook up my monitor to the Dynadock. I just go right into the laptop computer. There was a delay on the display when I went from monitor to the VGA connection on the Dynadock. I want to try DVI to HDMI and see if that makes a difference. My grandson says it will not make a difference. I guess I will find out on Saturday.
Update: I went to DisplayLink and got a new driver for the video for the Dynadock. I then installed and hooked up my HP w2338h monitor to the VGA on the Dynadock. There is still a little bit of lag but not very much. I can live with it. So I got it hooked up like that now. I hope when I get the DVI to HDMI cable that I will see some improvement.
I went to the mall to have blood drawn. Doctor wanted lab work done after about a week. I got it done a month later. Since the lab is across the street from Best Buy I got a new mouse. It is a Logitech Wireless Mouse M305. Nice little mouse. I feel a bit like a little sissy (it is small - the the mouse.. come on guys). It has a small “nano-receiver” that goes in the usb of the laptop. It is very small. So I can just leave it in. It frees up a usb port on the docking station. It seems to work great. I wanted to get a cable (HTML to DVI) but it was $25.00 and I had to decide on the cable or eating this week. I picked food over computer stuff. I know you were thinking I was a computer geek and I let you down.
I ordered some 3D glasses from Amazon. When I get them I am going to be checking them out. I guess I will check out some of the 3D videos on YouTube and I will let you know what I learn. I do not think 3D is ready for prime time yet. If you want to see 3D make it big and be a success then they need to make porn in 3D. Very soon after that the software and hardware for 3D would be perfected. The VCR, DVD player, hard drive and many other things we got because of the porn industry. I suspect it has given us more high tech useful stuff than the space program. So if the porn people turn out 3D porn we will have all the cheap 3D hardware and software we want.
I am not looking forward to 3D. But I do want to see what it looks like now on line. I look for 3D to be here for us all in about 15 years. I will be 70 next month. I am not sure I am going to see real successful 3D.
