I am having problems with Shockwave Flash and Chrome again today. What in the heck is the problem with Chrome and Shockwave Flash plug in? It seems like this happens often.
I found the following on a site called Shockwave. It is a bit old but I think it still is useful information.
I been using Chrome but I have Firefox and IE on my computer. I use them from time to time just to see if they are working or need an update. I have had Firefox 6.0 beta on my computer. Today I ran it and it did two updates and it is no longer a beta. So now I have Firefox 6.0 on m computer.
Just when you think you are out they pull you back in! I blogged a few hours ago that I was going to stop using FourSquare and just use Google+ and then I get the following email from FourSquare:
“Hi Jim,
This year we've been hustling like crazy to make foursquare even better. We've launched tons of new features, and we're super excited to announce that there are now over 10,000,000 (!!!) people on foursquare!
Make sure to get the latest hotness!
the latest version of foursquare for your phone.
First off, thanks for believing in our little startup as we try to build an awesome service for you. You can tell your grandkids that you were one of the first ten million members of our community (you're member #1,791,011). They'll look at you in amazement as they cruise by on their hoverboards. Second, we've been cranking away trying to make foursquare as amazing as possible. Lots more people, tips, and some big improvements and new features…”
“San Francisco (CNN) -- Google announced plans to bring out notebook computers running the company's new operating system, called Chrome OS, on June 15.
Samsung Electronics will sell a version with a 12.1-inch screen and Wi-Fi for $429, and another model with Verizon Wireless 3G connectivity for $499. Acer will also make a Chromebook with prices as low as $349.
Google will also lease the laptops to corporations and schools, a deal that includes the hardware, support services and management software, executives said at the company's annual I/O conference here on Wednesday. Monthly subscriptions will start at $28 per user for businesses and $20 per user for schools.
The new operating system is based on Google's Chrome Web browser but adds some extra features for connecting digital cameras and offline usage. Google says 160 million people actively browse the Web using Chrome, up from 70 million a year ago…”
Wow.. How out of touch with the real world is Google? I know saying Google is out of touch with the world sounds odd. But who in their right mind is going to buy one of their notebook computers running Chrome OS at those prices? Answer is no one. You can get some kick ass real laptop computers for those prices. It is odd to see a big smart company like Google make such an error. Now if they sell one of their Chrome OS notebooks for at the most $250.00 they might sell a few. I think the price needs to be more like $100.00 and then they could charge a monthly fee for access to the Google cloud. I think this is a fail but we will know soon.
I just found Opera on my computer. I downloaded it sometime in the past. I updated it and man it is fast. I use 90% of the time Chrome. I also use Firefox and IE sometimes. I must have loaded down Chrome with a bunch of crap or something because right now Opera is blowing it away with speed. This is version 11.10 build 2092 of Opera. Now I did have a couple of web sites that said they did not work with Opera.
After I posted about the Dynadock U in “I love Amazon Prime” I decided to just hook up the monitor not to the laptop but to the VGA connection on the Dynadock and give it a long try and live with it until Saturday when I get the digital cable and can hook up the monitor from the HDMI on the monitor to the DVI on the Dynadock. I had a little bit of lag not bad and nothing like it was before I installed the new Display Link driver. Well after I posted that blog entry I went to play the only game I play on the computer and that is Civ IV. The display was flashing on and off and I had problems moving the mouse around just to get it running. I am going to keep the hook up I have now and on Saturday trying to play the game will be a good test to see if a digital cable and hook makes any difference.
I ordered some 3D glasses from Amazon. When I get them I am going to be checking them out. I guess I will check out some of the 3D videos on YouTube and I will let you know what I learn. I do not think 3D is ready for prime time yet. If you want to see 3D make it big and be a success then they need to make porn in 3D. Very soon after that the software and hardware for 3D would be perfected. The VCR, DVD player, hard drive and many other things we got because of the porn industry. I suspect it has given us more high tech useful stuff than the space program. So if the porn people turn out 3D porn we will have all the cheap 3D hardware and software we want.
I am not looking forward to 3D. But I do want to see what it looks like now on line. I look for 3D to be here for us all in about 15 years. I will be 70 next month. I am not sure I am going to see real successful 3D.
Well Internet Explorer 9 RC is now out. At least the 64 bit version is out because I just got the notice of an important update and I updated and I got it now on m computer. I have had the beta 9 on my computer so I don’t expect much different. I use Google Chrome most of the time.
Internet Explorer 9 only works with Vista and Windows 7.
Word is that Google is shipping out more CR-48s. I would love to get one. I know everyone wants one. I do not expect to get one but if I was them I would ship one to Jim Howard. I been online 24/7 since 1982. People started logging into my system when people used 300 baud dial up. I have seen it all and been part of it all and now I would like to try out and report on the Google CR-48.
If I get one I will let you know. The first day or two when some of the big tech sites got one I read about them. But I have not heard a word about them since. I think they sent them to the wrong people. People like me would be reporting on it daily and telling you how much we hated it or loved it. The other big review and tech sites got tons of high tech stuff and they must have played with it for 30 minutes and then put it on a shelf someplace.
I am someone that has used a lot of operating systems over the years starting with DOS. I loved OS/2. Never did Apple. I have done Linux and am a big fan of Ubuntu. Everyone knows I am a minimalist guy. I think Google Chrome OS was made for me. If I get a CR-48 I will let you know here and on YouTube.
