The Creative ZiiO 7 Inch Android Table looks good. It might be something that I am interested in owning. If I get one I will let you know what I think about it.

Today I will be working on a page at Veoh.
I think there are lots of things can could be done with this site. But if no one visits the page or watches the videos then it is sort of pointless. But today I will be working on the site.
I will see if I can use it and see if it gets any traffic for me.
So if you visit it today or in the next day or two understand that I just set it up and am working on it. It will get better I hope.

I get so tired of programs that you use on your computer trying to force you to install some other program. I been careful with Adobe Reader. They do updates very often and you can not just click on yes update the program because if you do they install Norton Security Scan. You have to make sure you find the little box and unclick it or they will install Norton Security Scan.
They got to me today with an update. I was in the middle of something and I clicked update and I got the NSS. So I had to go and uninstall it.
I also hate the programs that want to install a toolbar. I do not mind toolbars. Some of them are useful. (Many people object to any toolbar.) I just hate the ones that come with programs that you install or update and you have to watch to make sure you do not install them.
I can not count the programs that you install that want to change the your home page to their page and that want to change your search site to their search site.
I would think that these programs/services would piss off more people than it is worth but I must be wrong. I guess there are so many people that do not know how to change a home page or their default search that they come out making money.
It just makes me not want to use their program/service.
What programs/services do you find are a big problem for you? I know I am forgetting some of the biggest offenders.

“NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Your personal Facebook page is about to get a major revamp. Facebook on Sunday began rolling out a new design for members' profile pages, integrating in one place information currently scattered throughout the Wall, photo albums and other sections of the site.
The overhaul, to be previewed Sunday night on 60 Minutes, aims to transform what's now a jumbled collection of details into a streamlined window into who you are and what you're up to. A new "bio" space at the top offers a quick overview, and a more-prominent photo section spotlights images you've recently posted and photos of you tagged by your friends…”
I am not a fan of Facebook but if they keep making improvements I might change my mind.
I am not sure if the above is the new page they are talking about or not. That is one reason I do not like Facebook is it to big and to confusing. When I started my first site in 1982 my entire idea was make it simple and easy. At that time when you logged into a site you often just got a cursor. Then if you hit enter or something you might get a list of letters of the alphabet. If you were lucky you could hit enter again and it might list what the letters stood for or you might have to enter a “?” or the letter “H.”
From the very first when you logged into my site you got a full menu and all you had to do was hit the letter or number and not even hit the “ENTER” key. My entire idea from the first was keep it simple. So I am not a fan of Facebook.
Here is a excellent comment and update on this post from a friend:

Hi Jim Howard, Argent009 (infinitycustoms@gmail.com) has left you a comment: No, that's the old Facebook page. You have to manually activate the new Facebook profile page. My suggestion, don't do it. If you've gotten used to the way it is now, changing it will just make it more confusing and stupid. It hides the status update bar, you now have to click on "Status" next to "Share" in the little bar near the top in order to cause the box to open for you to type in. It moves everything around to new locations, it does NOT make anything any easier or concise, it just moves shit for no reason what-so-ever. As of the roll-out there have been over 100,000 comments on the notice and I would venture to say that about 150% of them have been people complaining that they want to be able to go back to the old layout. Like every other Facebook "update" in the past several years, this one has b een met with overwhelming screams of "FUCK YOU ZUCKERBERG! YOU SUCK!" Or similar sentiments with even more profanity involved. In short, if you haven't made the mistake I made and clicked on the option to switch to the new profile, save yourself the headache and don't. Facebook CAN be a nice way to keep in touch with friends and family but the more they try to improve it, the less useful it gets. Between ten trillion solar masses of malware infested so-called games and more ads than late night television, the site is becoming a huge failure for all but the pre-teen set who will simply wind up keeping idiots like WorstBuy's Dork Squad in business removing malware at $200 a visit. I would estimate that my average visit to Facebook consists of the following. 10% actually reading updates from friends and family. 5% responding to those updates when appropriate. 5% not responding to updates. 30% clicking on the little "X" on ads and clicking "Uninteresting" or "Repetitive" or what have you. 25% Blocking notices from games people have started to play or updates about how they need some seed or assistance killing some mob boss or whatever. 1% Looking at links of interest. 1% Ignoring links that are not of interest. 3% sitting here calling Zuckerberg an asshole. 20% scrolling past garbage that's of no interest at all to me and likely to anyone else on the planet over the age of 12. If we could just remove all but about 10% of Facebook it'd be nice. :) |

For the first time Windows is a decent working O/S. My computer is working great and I am very happy with everything. But now I am starting to worry about losing data. I am starting to think about backing up files and having my data saved for me. I also hope to have a smart phone (an Android) cell phone and am wanting to have the ability to access my data from the cell phone.
So I been thinking about using an online data back up service. I been checking on them and reading reviews and seeing how they are rated. I have decided on SugarSync. I am signed up with them now. So far I love it.
You can sign up for a free 5 GB account. If you click on the link above you get an extra 500 MB of space and I get the same. If you sign up for the 30 GB plan, $5.00 a month, and use the link above each of us gets an extra 10 GB of space.
I hope I do not have a big crash on my computer but if I do I will have all my files and can re-build fast. I think the ability to access all my files and data from any computer and even a cell phone is going to be the big thing for me. I am signed up for the 60 GB plan ($10.00 a month) and my only question right now is that more space than I need. Since I have never been good at backing up data I have no idea.

I just got an email from Netflix. They are doing a price increase of one dollar to the plan that I have. I have one DVD at a time and of course their streaming video.
They also offer a new $7.99 a month plan which will let me watch unlimited TV episodes and movies on my computer or TV. At first I was thinking I would just cancel the service but I am now thinking that I may just switch to the $7.99 plan. I would not have to mess with DVDs and sending them back.
I find it very hard to find anything at Netflix that I want to watch.

I just installed CloudFlare on ShowMe Fort Worth. That URL is: www.hnbbs.com
It gives improved performance and security for you and for me. Let me know if you have any problems with it. If it goes OK I will see about adding it to my other blogs.
“CloudFlare protects and accelerates any website online. Once your website is a part of the CloudFlare community, its web traffic is routed through our intelligent global network. We automatically optimize the delivery of your web pages so your visitors get the fastest page load times and best performance. We also block threats and limit abusive bots and crawlers from wasting your bandwidth and server resources. The result: CloudFlare-powered websites see a significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks.
CloudFlare's system gets faster and smarter as our community of users grows larger. We have designed the system to scale with our goal in mind: helping power and protect the entire Internet.
CloudFlare can be used by anyone with a website and their own domain, regardless of your choice in platform. From start to finish, setup takes most website owners less than 5 minutes. Adding your website requires only a simple change your domain's DNS settings. There is no hardware or software to install or maintain and you do not need to change any of your site's existing code. If you are ever unhappy you can turn CloudFlare off as easily as you turned it on. Our core service is free and we offer enhanced services for websites who need extra features like real time reporting or SSL.”
They say on average a website using CloudFlare loads 30% faster, uses 60% less bandwidth and is more secure. Again let me know if you have a problem.

There is a new interesting search site called Blekko.
I think it will be of help to some people doing searches. Say you only want to find sites that have one point of view. Let us say you are interested in doing some research on guns. You could enter for search “Guns / pro” or “Guns / anti” or something like that. I did not try those but you get the idea. Try some searches on issues and put in “Democratic” or “Republican” and see what you come up with.
Let me know if you find any interesting search results so we can try it and pass it on to others.

MSN does not know how to spell. Their Windows Live Mesh is spelled wrong. It should be spelled “MESS.”
“Windows Live Mesh (formerly known as Live Mesh, Windows Live Sync and Windows Live FolderShare) [1]is a free-to-use Internet-based file synchronization application by Microsoft that is designed to allow files and folders between two or more computers be in sync with each other on Windows (Vista and later) and Mac OS X based computers or the Web via SkyDrive[2]. Windows Live Mesh also enables remote desktop access via the internet.
Windows Live Mesh is part of the free Windows Live Essentials suite of software…”
“…The beta was subsequently updated on August 17, 2010, and on August 29, 2010, the service was officially rebranded as Windows Live Mesh, and its cloud-based SkyDrive synced storage was increased to 5 GB, as was the case for the previous Live Mesh service. The new version also allow users to sync hidden files, view a list of missing files that are awaiting to be synchronised, and various performance improvements.[14] The final version of Windows Live Mesh 2011 (Wave 4) was released on September 30, 2010 as part of Windows Live Essentials 2011…”

I found this great site called Tagxedo.
Tagxedo turns words -- famous speeches, news articles, slogans and themes, even your love letters -- into a visually stunning tag cloud, words individually sized appropriately to highlight the frequencies of occurrence within the body of text.
Pretty neat site. Check it out.
