Google laptops running Chrome system

“San Francisco (CNN) -- Google announced plans to bring out notebook computers running the company's new operating system, called Chrome OS, on June 15.

Samsung Electronics will sell a version with a 12.1-inch screen and Wi-Fi for $429, and another model with Verizon Wireless 3G connectivity for $499. Acer will also make a Chromebook with prices as low as $349.

Google will also lease the laptops to corporations and schools, a deal that includes the hardware, support services and management software, executives said at the company's annual I/O conference here on Wednesday. Monthly subscriptions will start at $28 per user for businesses and $20 per user for schools.

The new operating system is based on Google's Chrome Web browser but adds some extra features for connecting digital cameras and offline usage. Google says 160 million people actively browse the Web using Chrome, up from 70 million a year ago…”

 

  Wow.. How out of touch with the real world is Google?  I know saying Google is out of touch with the world sounds odd.  But who in their right mind is going to buy one of their notebook computers running Chrome OS at those prices?  Answer is no one.
  You can get some kick ass real laptop computers for those prices.
  It is odd to see a big smart company like Google make such an error.
  Now if they sell one of their Chrome OS notebooks for at the most $250.00 they might sell a few.  I think the price needs to be more like $100.00 and then they could charge a monthly fee for access to the Google cloud.  I think this is a fail but we will know soon.

So far YouTube Live has been a fail

  So far I would not say that live streaming video on YouTube has been a success.  They might not agree with me… I am not sure..
  So far it has been Fashion TV doing a couple of channels of their stuff and I am sure that will be popular… It is girls in swim suits walking the runways all over the world.  Guys got to like that … But is that what we are going to get from Google/YouTube?
  The other thing we are getting is guys playing computer games and streaming the game.  That maybe popular with some of the kids playing games but is that what we should expect for live steaming.

  So far I do not see the YouTube live streaming as being a hit. 
I think it is still beta and it is just starting up … It may turn out to have something for us ..But so far I would give it one star.

High-tech LZR Swimsuits update

  The story below I reported here in ShowMeBlog   on April 10, 2008.  I am not a sports fan and do not follow sports or swimming. 
  So I did not find out until just now that the LZR Racer and other suits like it were banned by the FINA and the ban took effect in January 2010.

”…In an abrupt reversal of opinion, the FINA Congress voted almost unanimously to revert its previous policy and ban all body-length swimsuits.^[13] The decision was taken in Rome on 24 July 2009, during the 2009 World Aquatics Championships. The new policy states that men's swimsuits may maximally cover the area from the waist to the knee, and women's counterparts from the shoulder to the knee. They also ruled that the fabric used must be a "textile" or a woven material and that a suit may not have any fastening devices such as a zipper (drawstrings on male jammers are allowed). Installing Android 2.2 on a Samsung Intercept

This is a video on how to install Android 2.2 on a Samsung Intercept. I installed in on my phone and on my son's phone.
You install it at your own risk. You should wait for Virgin Mobile to roll it out to you but I could not wait. Again doing this install and by passing VM has risks.

I have android 2.2 on my Samsung Intercept now

  Well a little snip* of a girl downloaded and installed the android Froyo 2.2 on her Samsung Intercept.  You can see the video by SassyGirl8324.  If she had the guts to do it.. I could not be a scaredy cat could I? 

  So I downloaded the file. I installed it manually and waited for my phone to blow up or melt or something but the install went OK.  No problems.  I now have android 2.2 on my Samsung Intercept.
  A few things had to be adjusted but everything is OK.  The phone works better with 2.2.  I moved all the apps that it would let me to the SD card.  One app moved but when I went to run it said it had to be on the phone so I had to move it back.  That was the Radio Scanner app.

* I got to thinking that maybe “snip” was something bad.  So I tried to look it up on the Internet.  I am thinking that in the movie “National Velvet” that when little Velvet Brown (Elizabeth Taylor) rides Pie in the race the radio announcer remarks that it was hard to believe that a little snip of a girl could win the race.
  Of course my hearing sucks big time. 

Samsung Intercept Froyo Update 2.2

  YouTube is now doing live streaming.  They are rolling out a few little by little.  I will do the live streaming when I can do it.  They have not turned it on for me yet.

Return of the Commodore 64?

  I must have had about five or more Commodore 64 computers.  I even had a SX-64 (that was their “portable” computer).  I ran Howard’s Notebook on a Commodore 64 for years.  So I have a place in my heart for the C-64. 
  So I was all excited when I found out that a new C64 is going to come out.

 

  So I called Russell into my room to tell him about it.  He kept saying what will it do and I was telling him what little I know about it.  He took a look at the photo and said “it is just the bottom of a laptop without the screen.”  God, he is correct.  He just ruined my dream and my day.

  It breaks my heart but I think it is not going to sell and they are going to lose money on the deal.  It is exciting to us old guys but I do not think the kids of today want it.  They want a cell phone or a tablet that can play Angry Birds or something.

Google Chooses Kansas City (KS) for ultra-fast Internet

“NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The year-long wait is over: Google announced Wednesday that it has chosen to deploy its ultra-fast broadband network in Kansas City, Kansas.

Google (GOOG, Fortune 500) will provide broadband Internet access to the city with speeds of about 1 gigabit per second. That's around 100 times faster than what most Americans have available to them today. Google said that the network's speed would be fast enough to download a high-definition, full-length feature film in less than five minutes…”

  Oh my God!  I was born in Kansas City (MO) and spent all my adult life in Kansas City (MO).  I left in 2000.  Kansas City (KS), and I am not racist by the way, is a shit hole.  I worked one entire year in Kansas City (KS).  The KCKS police department was very bad.  We are taking scary.  I worked with a guy that was racist and a very bad guy and he had been kicked off the Kansas City (KS) police department.  They took him back on the force.  He told me how he and other police officers used to beat blacks and push them down stairs and say they fell.  He was just the sort of guy you do not want to be a police officer and they hired him back.
  I do not see how high speed Internet is going to help KCKS.  I have been gone 11 years from the area but I do not think anything can help that city.

‘Jessie Slaughter’ Dad Charged With Child Abuse

  In July of 2010 a big story on the Internet was “Jessie Slaughter” and her videos.  I was not going to comment on it until I found out she was the number one search on Google.
  I made a video about it and here is that video.  It has got 29,925 views since July 18, 2010.

 

 

  Now one year later is the news story of “Jessie Slaughter’s Dad Charged with Child Abuse.”

“The father of a Florida seventh grader whose profanity-laced video prompted online death threats last year has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his daughter.

Gene Leonhardt, 53, was charged by police in Marion County, Fla., with child abuse in the incident, which occurred last month.

According to the police report, first reported on the website Smoking Gun, the girl said she had been arguing with her father when he "punched her, causing her to have a bloody and swollen lips."

Leonhardt pleaded not guilty to the child abuse charge and was freed on $5,000 bond.

The girl, who goes by the screen name "Jessi Slaughter," saw her YouTube video rocket across the Internet last summer. In it, her rage boiled with violent threats and graphic language that she used against online tormentors she said were bullying her…”

  I said in my video that we would be hearing more about this family.  At least, I think, I said that.  I do not want to watch my video over again to find out what I said but I seem to remember that.  I been wondering what happened to the family.  About a year later we find out that there are still problems.  I do not think anyone is surprised by this event.
