Colin Quinn Long Story Short

  I just saw “Colin Quinn Long Story Short” on HBO.  It was great.  If you get a chance to watch it do so.
  I see it was directed by Jerry Seinfeld.

I could live in Sydney

  I was watching “House Hunters International” on HGTV and they had a couple looking to get a place in Sydney.  When I see something about Sydney it sounds and looks good.  I think I could live in Sydney.
  I would have to win a lottery first to get the money to live there.
  Then, of course, if I won a lottery there might be a lot of other places that I wanted to live.

  Speaking of Sydney the show “Naked Boys Singing” is running.  On March 15th it was “Nudist Night” and the audience also had to be nude. 
  Here in the United States you would have a hell of a time just getting the show to be allowed to run.  Think what would happen if you attempted to have one show with the audience naked.
  Not that I would want to be in an audience for the show nude.
  And I have been to a nudist resort for a weekend and attended some nudist swim events. 
  But I would not want to be in the audience nude.  Where would I set my popcorn?  You would also want to be very careful about moving around.  With my bladder problem I would have to get up and get down the roll of seats a couple of times during the show.  I guess I would need to set on the end.    That sounds bad.

  I think I have changed my mind.  I would not want to be called a “Sydneysider.” 

HBO cancels ‘Luck’ after horse deaths

  I tired watching “Luck” but I gave up after the first show.  It an excellent cast and it seems like the writing was great.  I just could not get into the show.  I just did not care for the people.  I think you have to like someone.  I am not sure why I did not like the show.

  Well news about the show:

 

“One day after a third horse died on the set of the HBO drama "Luck," HBO announced that it has ceased all future production.

The racetrack series premiered just last month, and it's expected that it will finish out the first season. (They were in the midst of filming season 2.)

In a statement, the network said, "Safety is always of paramount concern. We maintained the highest safety standards throughout production, higher in fact than any protocols existing in horseracing anywhere, with many fewer incidents than occur in racing or than befall horses normally in barns at night or pastures."

The network goes on to say, "While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future. Accordingly, we have reached this difficult decision."

The show starred Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte, and was headed up by TV producer-turned-film-director Michael Mann and David Milch ("Deadwood," "NYPD Blue").

The two executive producers, who hadn't worked together prior to this show, said, "The two of us loved this series, loved the cast, crew and writers. This has been a tremendous collaboration and one that we plan to continue in the future."

Stephen Hawking to cameo on ‘Big Bang Theory’

  I have become a fan of the “Big Bang Theory” TV show.  I have my DVR set to record it each week.

 

A geek dream finally fulfilled!

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will finally meet his hero, Stephen Hawking, in an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory.The CBS show is keeping details of Hawking’s appearance under wraps but EW did find out that the author of A Brief History of Time will appear in a scene with Parsons on April 4.

Hawking’s cameo will air the week after Leonard Nimoy finally shows up on the comedy. Nimoy, in fact, Tweeted @TheRealNimoy earlier today: “Spock on Big Bang Theory on 3/29. Stephen Hawking the following week. Logical.”   EW.Com

 

  If you follow the show you will look forward to seeing Hawking and Nimoy on the show. 

  I also have become a fan of “Life is too Short” TV show.  But it is starting to become sort of the same thing each week.  But still funny. 

Game Change movie on HBO

  I love movies.  I used to love politics but now with all the right wing hate going on I can not stand it. 
  I most of the time do not watch the movies that are about living people that are current. 
  I decided to watch “Game Change.”  It was from the book but just the part about John McCain and  Palin.  
  Actor Ed Harris did a great job of doing Sen. John McCain. 

  Now Republican strategist Steve Schmidt I never heard of and would not know him if I saw him but actor Woody Harrelson was great in the part.  He should get an award for that acting.  Every word and look was so great.
 

I saw on TV that John McCain  said he was not going to watch the movie.  Then he talked about the movie.     I am sure he watched it over and over again.  But that is one of those things you have to lie about I guess.
  I think he came out very well in the movie.
  In fact Palin came out pretty good.. Sure she came out appearing dumb but she was and is dumb.  But you see that she was just a normal person… Under great pressure and with a lot going on in her life. 

  But I do not think anyone is going to watch that movie and change their minds about her. Those people that think she is great are still going to think she is great.

  Actor Julianne Moore, never heard of her before, did Sarah Palin and did a fine job of doing her. 

  In the movie and in real life a lot of people rave about what a great speech she gives.  I have commented about it before here.  I think she does a very bad job of giving speeches.
  She just has these lines that she spits out and it is like she has them on 3 by 5 cards or something.  She says the few lines and then moves on to the next lines.  It is like they are not connected and it is like she has no idea even what she is saying.  It is a very odd way of giving a speech.
 

  I think the movie is worth watching.  

Massive Solar Flare on the way

 

 

“U.S. politics had its "Super Tuesday" yesterday, and so did the sun, says Joseph Kunches from NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado.

That's because the sun had two solar flares associated with two coronal mass ejections. Coronal mass ejections involve massive amounts of energy and charged particles shooting out of the sun, and can cause problems if directed at Earth, as was the case over the last couple of days.

This event may stir up a geomagnetic storm, and lead to disruptions to high-frequency radio communications, global positioning systems and power grids, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center said Wednesday. The peak of the storm is expected to hit Thursday morning; it may gradually diminish by Friday morning…”

Fox cancels ‘Terra Nova’

  When I heard about the TV show “Terra Nova” I made an attempt to watch it.  They had a good idea but I did not like the show.  I watched the first show and then attempted to watch the second one and just gave up on it.

Fox has cancelled prehistoric dino drama "Terra Nova" after one season, ending months of will-they-or-won't-they speculation. Studio 20th Century Fox TV, however, says they fight "Terra Nova's" extinction event by shopping the series to other networks.

The decision was handed down despite a few factors that were in the show's favor: A creatively strong two-hour finale, which won over many of the show's grumbling detractors; Fox cancelling Monday night veteran "House"; and another Monday sci-fi drama, "Alcatraz," under-performing in recent weeks. From what we hear, Fox higher-ups weren't too fond of the show…”

Update on actor Daniel von Bargen

“CINCINNATI, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Actor Daniel von Bargen is hospitalized in critical condition after shooting himself in the head at his home in Cincinnati, TMZ reported.

Von Bargen, 61, played recurring roles on the TV sitcoms "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Seinfeld," and appeared in the films "Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions," "RoboCop 3," "Basic Instinct," "Broken Arrow," "Philadelphia," "The Silence of the Lambs," "The Postman," "A Civil Action," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Super Troopers."

TMZ said von Bargen shot himself in the temple Monday, then called 911.

"I've shot myself in the head ... and I need help," the celebrity news Web site quoted von Bargen as telling the 911 operator.

Asked if it was an accident, TMZ said the actor replied: "I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to. ... They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes."

There was no word on the state of von Bargen's health before the apparent suicide attempt.”

Daniel von Bargen having problems

“Daniel von Bargen (born June 5, 1950) is an American film, stage, and television actor.

Best known for his roles as Mr. Kruger on Seinfeld and Commandant Edwin Spangler on the TV comedy Malcolm in the Middle, Von Bargen's film credits include London Betty, RoboCop 3, Basic Instinct, Broken Arrow, Universal Soldier: The Return, Truman, Philadelphia, A Civil Action, Thinner, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Snow Falling on Cedars, and Super Troopers. He played the maniacal sorcerer Nix in Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions, and the Sheriff in The Postman. He played a terrorist in a season 5 episode of the X-Files.

His distinguished stage career includes a long residency with Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island; he appeared in the premiere of Larry Gelbart's Mastergate and other plays at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and made his Broadway debut when the show went to New York.

On February 20, 2012, celebrity gossip website TMZ.com reported that von Bargen shot himself in the temple during an apparent suicide attempt. He placed a phone call to a 911 operator who dispatched an emergency unit to von Bargen's Montgomery, Ohio apartment.^[1][2] TMZ has published an audio recording of the 911 Call.^[3] The actor suffers from diabetes, and has already had one leg amputated. He was due to have "at least" some toes amputated on the other foot, and did not want to submit to another surgery.^[4]…”

  The name did not ring a bell with me but I have watched “Seinfeld” over and over and I also liked “Malcolm in the Middle.” Also I have seen just about every movie that Daniel von Bargen has been in and he did a great job in every movie. 

  I hope everything turns out OK for him but it sounds like he had a bunch of problems and now he has a lot more.   If you want to hear the 911 call you will find it here:   911 Call
